Domestic Abrams Production Deputy Program Manager
This position is responsible for several key areas of overall program execution of the Abrams Production program. Specifically, this role owns the program responsibility of change management including production driven changes, release of upgrades from development and changes driven from obsolescence. The deputy program manager is responsible for ensure a smooth transition from development to production, ensuring the program obtains equitable adjustment for new scope, and risks driven from obsolescence are mitigated to support on-going execution and vehicle deliveries.
Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect:
- Program Lead for Production Change Management & Transition to Production
- Program Lead at key points through the change process include Problem Review Boards and internal Change Control Boards.
- Responsible for holding the organization accountable for robust impact assessments and analysis to ensure the program team fully understand the impacts of each change.
- Mitigate cost growth by understanding when equitable adjustment is contractually required and lead any associated proposal activities and follow-on negotiations.
- Lead the organization through any significant changes to ensure a smooth transition to production without impacting on-going deliveries.
- Obsolescence Management (OM)- Risk Mitigation
- Engaging with the Obsolescence team and associated stakeholder to have an overall awareness of issues that put on-going production at risk
- Ensure the team has a plan to mitigate impacts to on-going production or buy down risk to the greatest extent possible.
- Responsible for leading AWAR requests as required for internal procurement of Last Chance Buy activities
- Ensuring accurate and routine customer communication of OM risks and mitigation activities
- Program Lead for the managing spares & kits orders under the production contract and ensure on time delivery to the customer.
- Supporting the Program Execution Lead in balancing the overall responsibilities of execution to successfully deliver production vehicles to the contract schedule, and balance meeting contract commitments and meeting the internal financial objectives of the program.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or higher degree.
- Demonstrated experience in Program Management, Project Management, Integrated Project Team (IPT) leadership, or related experience.
- 10+ years relevant experience in the defense industry or in a related production environment. Less years may be considered based on advanced degrees.
- Experience with transition from development to production
- Experience with Risk Management
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation
- Organizational capabilities to direct and lead others in a team-based environment
- Understanding and experience with Government contracts is a plus
- Knowledge of GDLS products, processes, and organization is a plus
