Independently performs all responsibilities as a multi-skilled, multi-tasking individual in an empowered work team. Performs a variety of required tasks in the manufacture of inserts to support the production of contact lenses. Responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of CNC Equipment and metrology equipment according to established procedures.
Able to perform daily operation, preventative maintenance, and trouble shoot issues on all equipment and systems. Additionally, responsible for ensuring compliance to all safety and environmental policies and maintaining area waste rooms. Maintains current knowledge and adheres to provisions of FDA, OSHA, GMP, MPs, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, equipment specifications and process specifications. Vigilant for maintaining compliance with Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures.

JOB POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for manufacturing operational improvement to the organization's profitability and efficiency. Analyzes methods and internal manufacturing processes and develops strategies and initiatives for operational efficiency. Implements process improvements and changes in product design and manufacturing methods. Implements continuous improvement initiatives using various Lean methodologies and principles (e.g., 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Kaizen, etc.).
Applies project management skills, tools, and techniques to manage the project and program scope, quality, schedule, budget, resources, and risk. Consults on projects, programs, and processes that span multiple related areas in support of the organization's overall Manufacturing Process Improvement strategy. Applies in-depth knowledge of the Manufacturing Process Improvement field to install best of class policies, procedures, and plans for the area.
Organizes project teams, develops project schedules and determines resource requirements. Monitors and reports on the status of projects including cost, timing and staffing. Identifies/resolves obstacles to completing project on time and to budget. May include work managing multiple, interrelated projects (including business transformation projects).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Recommends and implements process changes that improve departmental quality, cost and schedule and manages projects, programs, and processes for the Manufacturing Process Improvement area.
• Acts as a top level specialist, providing actionable insights based on analyses of trends and the competitive landscape to continually improve the organization's Manufacturing Process Improvement strategy.
• Recommends development of new manufacturing process improvements, with a focus on maximizing production capabilities, layout/space utilization and productivity.
• Provides support to implementation of site strategy, development and cascade of goals and objective and support to execution of financial cycle updates.
• Collaborates with Operations, Quality and Engineering to develop actionable insights from key process indicators, including yields, OEE, manufacturing standards and conversion cost.
• Interfaces directly with other departments, sites and corporate functional groups to drive and/or support critical business goals/objectives within GMP/ISO compliance
• Integrates Johnson & Johnson's Credo and Leadership Imperatives into team goals and decision making EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or University degree required; focused degree in Engineering or Science preferred. Master's degree is a plus.
• Fluent in Spanish & English is required.
• Five years of experience in leading projects, management, or sponsorship, preferably with proven track record in complex projects involving partners external to the immediate organization is required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES AND AFFILIATIONS
Required:
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant manufacturing environment experience required. Highly regulated environment experience preferred
• Minimum five (5) years of leadership equivalent experience
• Lean or 6 Sigma Belt Certification - Process Excellence Belt certification (Lean or Six Sigma) required
• Proven initiative, creativity, assertiveness and leadership abilities.
• Must be able to work under pressure achieving consistently high results through associate and team efforts.
• Intermediate or higher-level computer skills and use of software application(s). Excellent communication, interpersonal relation, and influencing skills.
• Shown understanding of quality systems, supplier management and customer service requirements.
• Strong budgeting expense and capital management skills.
• Understanding of the Change Integration Process, and evidence of effective use of tools.
• Have led projects that demonstrate cultural change management within a business.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and time management.
• Ability to shift priorities according to changes in department/facility needs and be open to different ideas/approaches.
• Computer skills and use of software application(s). Strong computer background (MS Office, MS Project Management, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Preferred:
• Knowledge and understanding of ERP and other planning systems
LOCATION & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
• Occasional travel for project related activities at sites within and outside Puerto Rico- 10%
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
