SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Program Manager position is to provide strategic planning, research administration and operational oversight of activities for the NeuroCare Program. The incumbent will support the administrative, technical, research and financial management for assigned projects within the NeuroCare Program. The position works with department leadership, department faculty, external faculty in multiple other departments across the institution to execute projects throughout their lifecycles. The Program Manager will work effectively on multiple unrelated projects, working with time constraints and will be required to write large technical documents, use advanced computer software to generate reports as well as other articles. The incumbent will work on developing multi-investigator programs, key scientific and industry partnerships, technology, funding, and other initiatives related to the NeuroCare program.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Strategic Planning & Execution
- In conjunction with NeuroCare Executive Leadership, perform high-impact analysis of program outcomes and evaluate alternative solutions and insights that will drive the transition of preliminary data to translational research, commercialization opportunities and overall improvement of patient care.
- Executes and analyzes strategic and tactical plans using data from internal and external sources (e.g., department, division, institution, NeuroCare industry partners) for ongoing research activities and ensures they are executed effectively and efficiently.
- Supports prioritization of research project tasks and develops timelines.
- Supports collaborations and provides support to complex projects across multiple functional areas related to large-scale grants, grant applications, protocols and scientific collaborations, both internal and external.
- Assesses and seeks to mitigate clinical, research, industry and strategic issues faced by departments across the institution as it pertains to the NeuroCare. Provides solutions to scientific challenges by making recommendations to establish consensus among key project members.
- Supports strategic planning to expand, promote, and increase institutional, national, and international visibility of the NeuroCare.
- Assists in compiling data, writing, and publishing NeuroCare annual updates, triennial reports, and designs, updates, and maintains the externally facing NeuroCare website.
Administrative & Research Management
- Ensure NeuroCare Research Program adherence to all institutional requirements.
- Provides support for NeuroCare faculty on submission of compliance protocols (e.g., IRB), as needed.
- Provides trial support (e.g., medical record review, for new and ongoing NeuroCare clinical studies).
- Serves as a contact point for inquiries and for new and established collaborators (internal and external), institutional leaders, and external organizations and companies for NeuroCare.
- Provides support for the planning and facilitation of workshops, seminar series, workshops, conferences, IAB/EAB meetings, large-grant collaborator meetings, and other NeuroCare events.
- Attends programmatic research meetings and monitors project progression, deliverables, project timelines and sponsor deliverables in conjunction with the research team.
- Prioritizes and manages tasks, projects, and milestones to ensure timely completion.
- Coordinates research planning, monitoring and reporting activities in collaboration with the Research Department Administrator, Manager, Clinical Protocol Administration, Imaging Physics faculty, faculty in other external MDA departments, institutional leadership, and external companies and organizations.
- Completes special projects and reports requested by the NeuroCare Executive Director.
Personnel & Financial Management
- Supports recruitment and hiring efforts for NeuroCare personnel.
- Mentors and encourages staff development through participation in professional development activities.
- In collaboration with CSI's Finance Analyst and Grants Team and the NeuroCore Executive Director, assists with pertinent financial and budgetary matters of the NeuroCare (grant and non-grant) to ensure prospective funds assignments are appropriate and expenses are within budget.
- In collaboration with CSI's Finance Analyst and Grants Team and the NeuroCore Executive Director, assists with expense and income tracking for the NeuroCare program grants and accounts.
Communication
- Possesses excellent verbal communication skills via face-to-face encounters and can be clearly understood by telephone.
- Reads printed and written data and assimilates pertinent information in order to communicate in written correspondence.
- Develops, compiles information, and writes reports utilizing complex data, and submits summaries and progress reports.
- Possesses good interpersonal and problem-solving skills, works independently, and handles complex issues.
- In collaboration with NeuroCare's Executive Director, and with approval, as needed, from the relevant MDA marketing and distribution offices, prepares and creates correspondence, marketing material, press releases, and other internal and external documents for NeuroCare.
- Presents programmatic progress in oral and written presentation and graphical formats.
- Editorializes narratives that clearly articulate scientific findings to donors (in collaboration with philanthropy office), industry partners, technology transfer liaisons, strategic alliance and legal partners, and sponsored research program staff.
- The scope of this position includes requires excellent oral and written communication skills.
