This position supports the foundation relations team in numerous areas such as prospect identification/cultivation, recording sponsored research, proposal development, stewardship activities, coordinating site visits and administrative support.

Primary Responsibilities
Prospect Identification and Cultivation:
+ Design, coordinate and generate reports to further the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of foundations.
+ Continuously monitor and improve the systems for tracking short- and long- term opportunities with funders and strategies for interactions.
+ Conduct research in order to gather, organize and analyze information about the interests of specific foundations. Identify funding organizations, both independently and in coordination with the Analytics and Relationship Management team (ARM), with interests that match the strengths of VUMC and identify faculty members and programs that align with these interests.
+ Create and implement marketing and communication plans for alerting VUMC faculty and staff about funding and partnership opportunities. Collaborate with the VUMC Office of Research (OOR) on these pipeline building activities.
+ Update all Limited Submission Opportunities (LSO) overview documents, manage the LSO calendar, and work closely with OOR to be more proactive with these opportunities.
Sponsored Research:
+ Provide support for the process of identifying Sponsored Research to be recorded in Advance each month.
+ Serve as secondary point of contact for Gift and Donor Services team to field questions that arise in the recording of sponsored research grants.
Proposal Development:
+ Assist Foundation Relations development officers with writing, editing, and developing proposals, and coordinating submission of proposals.
+ Draft cover letters and letters of nomination for proposals.
+ Guide faculty and department staff in the application process for foundation grants at or below $50K. Manage their application timeline and assist with logistics.
+ Liaise with the Office of Sponsored Programs’ grants managers and specialists as needed for pre-award processes and institutional approval of applications.
Stewardship:
+ Manage the foundation acknowledgement process and oversee gift- and grant-related correspondence.
+ Work with Communications to identify additional opportunities with the Office of News and Communications to publicly recognize foundation donors as appropriate.
Site Visits:
+ Coordinate scheduling, logistics and correspondence for site visits by current or potential donors.
+ Manage logistics for cultivation or stewardship activities such as check presentations, tours, on-campus site visits, and activities. This may include working with other departments on campus to schedule meetings, reserving conference rooms, ordering food and overseeing set-up and operation of audio/visual equipment.
+ Collaborate with the Donor Engagement team, Office of Research and other offices across campus to identify on-campus events (lectures, symposiums, research forums, etc.) that might be good engagement opportunities for CFR prospects.
Administrative:
+ Provide programmatic and technical support to the Foundation Relations team, including coordination of expense reports and serving as primary analytical support person for Foundation Relations officers.
+ Coordinate calendar for Executive Director of Foundation Relations, Senior Director of Foundation Relations and any future Foundation Relations development officers.
+ Schedule travel arrangements for Foundation Relations development officers.
+ Manage Foundation Relations website content and serve as point of contact for Development Communications team.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) (Required)
+ 3 years relevant experience (Required)
+ Strong project management skills.
+ Superb oral and written communication skills.
+ Ability to maintain a productive and collaborative working relationship with partners across the Medical Center.
