One of my best clients, a leading medical device manufacturer specializing in plastic injection molding, is seeking to add a Program Manager at their flagship facility in Northwest Connecticut. This addition comes in response to growing production demands.

The Manufacturing Program Manager will oversee and coordinate all aspects of manufacturing programs, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with required quality standards. This role is crucial in managing cross-functional teams, developing comprehensive program plans, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to optimize our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilites:
- Lead and manage manufacturing programs from inception to completion, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing stages.
- Develop detailed program plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget management.
- Ensure alignment of program objectives with the company’s manufacturing strategies and overall business goals.
Team Leadership:
- Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams across engineering, production, quality, and supply chain departments.
- Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment, offering guidance and support to drive program success.
Project Coordination:
- Manage project schedules and ensure timely achievement of program milestones.
- Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
- Maintain clear communication between stakeholders, including internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
Process Improvement:
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.
- Analyze program performance metrics and implement corrective actions to meet targets.
Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure that programs comply with quality standards, regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, FDA), and industry best practices.
- Oversee quality assurance activities and address any issues or non-conformances.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring cost control and adherence to financial targets.
- Optimize resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and present regular program status reports detailing progress, risks, and financial performance.
- Maintain thorough program documentation, including project plans, meeting notes, and performance data.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivelant experience.
- Proven experience in program or project management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality management systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Lean Six Sigma.
- Experience with ERP systems and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, FDA).
- Engineering degree holders are highly preferred, and a higher compensation package will be offered for this qualification.
