Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Program Manager - Rehab Therapy, Acute Care.

In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for the daily operations and management of all projects/programs of the assigned Rehabilitation Therapy Units. Provides ongoing supervision of all direct patient care of specialist staff including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Psychology, Horticultural Therapy and Rehabilitation Therapy Aides. Responsible to keep the Site Director informed of all relevant updates both clinically and operationally.

Job Responsibilities:

• Participates in special projects and performs other related duties.
• Plans, organizes and monitors all unit patient care activities given by assigned staff as stated in the position summary. Reviews all referrals and schedules patients. Monitors individualized patient care programs to ensure consistency with prescribed treatment and compliance. Ensures all daily rounds, conferences, and other meetings are attended and represent the unit re: patient care. Functions as a liaison and resource person with physicians and other disciplines regarding all patient care activities.

Functions as a liaison and resource person with physicians and other disciplines regarding all patient care activities.
• Evaluates and documents staff performance and provides personnel counseling and when necessary, disciplines staff in accordance with NYU Hospitals policies and procedures. Evaluates clinical performance on an ongoing basis in all clinical areas. Completes all probationary competencies and evaluations on new employees in accordance with personnel policies and procedures. Ensures that the Medical Centers disciplinary process is implemented in a timely and appropriate manner when indicated. Conveys the concerns, attitudes, and moral of the staff to the Director in a consistent manner to assist in ensuring departmental operations.
• Promotes unit activities that support the professional development of the staff. Conducts in-services and provides opportunities for staff to meet with others regarding patient care. Encourages staff to attend all in services, rounds, and lectures, and to pursue a course of professional growth through higher education, professional journals, etc. Meets with staff on a regular basis to support ongoing professional development. Actively engages other colleagues in clinical learning experiences. Is a mentor for clinical skill and knowledge acquisition for staff members. Pursues own area of interest and develops them into area of expertise. Initiatives assisting in organizational and structural duties when Supervisor is not available. Demonstrates situational leadership in handling Unit Specific Issues or concerns.
• Assists in developing goals, standards, and evaluation criteria for performance improvement. Identifies areas of patient care for performance improvement projects and works in conjunction with other management staff to ensure compliance with projects. These projects will be products of goals and standards established for the unit regarding excellence in patient care and its delivery. Solicits feedback from the staff regarding the unit direction and utilizes it for growth and development of professional and patient care standards.
• Plans, develops and implements new procedures for the unit. Suggests and presents ideas on the formulation of innovative patient care programs based on current advances in the field. Identifies plans and future needs ( ie: staffing , resources, etc) and problem areas of the unit , assisting in the development of workable solutions and follows through with their implementation. Assists in identifying areas for potential research in the cardiac unit and participates in patient data collection and related research activities. Identifies and plans for future needs (in-patient care, staffing and utilization requirements, and material resources) and problem areas of the unit; develops workable solutions and follows thru with them.
• Maintains unit records and prepares reports required by the Program Director. Delegates the task of completing the daily census of patient care. Assists in the preparation of the weekly supervisory schedules for coverage when needed. Completes all weekly and monthly reports according to departmental procedures and submits them to the Director on a timely basis. Provides the Director with any reports that are needed to facilitate programmatic growth and direction. Assists in developing goals, standards, and evaluation criteria for quality assurance and develops written standards and criteria to assess these areas of patient care. Determines what documentation is required to adequately document P.T. programs, and conforms to standards required by the Medical Center and outside regulatory agencies.
• Oversees the storage and maintenance of supplies and equipment for the unit. Maintains emergency equipment according to departmental manual. ( ie: ensures that all electrical has been inspected and cleared on a routine basis, that all patient care areas are supplied with the necessary equipment to provide safe, effective care, etc). Delegates responsibilities regarding routine care and procurement of additional equipment form then storage area to staff members. Routinely checks all exercise and ambulation equipment to ensure proper functioning and reports to the departmental office any repairs that are required.Submits to the office, a list of supplies needed by the unit , submits recommendations to the Director for both capitol and non-capitol purchases.
• Functions as a liaison and resource person; confers with the Director of Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy, Assistant Director of PT and OT, Physicians, Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioners, and other services regarding patient care.
• Demonstrates continued proficiency in skills required to treat assigned patient population.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy, OT, or Speech. Current New York State license, registration, or certificate appropriate to profession, OT, PT or Speech.. Minimum of seven years experience in a rehabilitation setting, including a minimum of two years of supervisory or administrative experience. Strong background in Clinical program operations and program development. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential. Heavy interaction with department administrators, physicians and clinical staff.
BLS certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA) OR Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA) is required upon entry to the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Membership in professional organization. Advanced degree in professional area or health management. AACVPR and ACLS membership preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $97,589.95 - $152,098.80 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
