Typical Day in the Role
" Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is to manage the portfolio of offerings and services that we sell or provide to end customers in the end.
" Key projects: This role will contribute to work on the offers that we are creating and the offers that are being sold by sellers to customers.
" Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 40% project and program management. 30% meetings with stakeholders. 30% misc data gathering, customer connections etc.
Candidate Requirements
" Years of Experience Required: 2-5 overall years of experience in the field.
" Degrees or certifications required: Bachelor's degree in business, Operations, or related field work experience in project management, program management, process management, process improvement, OR equivalent experience.
" Disqualifiers: Candidates without experience with program and project management for the life of the project will to be considered.
" Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain PMP or PMI certification. MSFT experience. A proven track record of quick leaning and project completion. Experience as a Business Program Manager
" Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on how they work through the list, team feedback. Ability to be flexible and proactive.
Summary:
The main function of an IT Project/Business Program Manager is to oversee the application of project management methodology during all phases of the project cycle, and managing the portfolio, with responsibilities including project design, scope management, cost control, quality and performance reporting.
Drive programs/projects from project initiation through delivery and managing. Interface with stakeholders on technical and business issues. Create and/or review functional specifications that will be used as tools in making decisions as to how the product or service will be implemented. Provide Product Managers & Product Unit Managers with technical and/or analytical information. Organize cross functional activities ensuring the program/project is completed on schedule and within budget constraints. Provide program/project schedules and status reports.
Provides insight to lead others to understand mapping or how people, process, technology, and systems work and impact one another. Provides insight to collect and evaluates success criteria and performance metrics. Utilizes direction and strategy from leadership to advocate and influence sponsorship regarding business area of expertise in order to create and execute plans that shift current priorities to new organizational initiatives and objectives, and influences others to change behavior accordingly.
Job Responsibilities:
Operational Management:?Oversee and own the daily operations of the portfolio, including managing the rhythm of business, process development and improvements, triaging requests, and making updates to existing offers.
Ensure that operational processes are documented and communicated to team members and external stakeholders.
Program Management: Lead projects including the project plan, timelines, milestones, performance metrics, and requirements. Communicates the project status and risks to relevant stakeholders and holds them accountable for following the established schedule, risk mitigation plans, and processes. Establishes objectives and success criteria for the project with all stakeholders.
Communication and Reporting:?Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and other communications to inform and engage internal and external stakeholders.
Provide regular updates on projects development progress.
Cross Team Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders across multiple different organizations, bringing these teams together into virtual teams to jointly work on projects and initiatives.
Problem solver: Respond to and resolve issues that may impact the release timeline of projects. Adjust existing processes based on learnings.
Strategic alignment: Drives strategic alignment among cross-functional (e.g., organizational, product, business) stakeholders (e.g., Engineering) to design crucial programs from initiation to delivery. Provides thought leadership to produce collateral (e.g., proposals, strategy walking deck, internal and external pitch content) to incorporate stakeholder needs and ensure the business objectives are met.
