Typical Responsibilities:
- Develop a Comprehensive Chaos Engineering Framework: Design and implement a robust chaos engineering framework aimed at improving the resilience and reliability of Navy systems. Establish best practices for chaos experiments and ensure their integration into the development lifecycle.
- Drive AI/ML Adoption: Lead the operational integration of AI/ML-driven analytical tools within existing systems, including the initial testing and validation phases. Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to ensure effective tool implementation and optimization.

- Testing Scenario Creation: Create and execute comprehensive testing scenarios to evaluate system performance and reliability under a variety of conditions. Ensure that testing processes align with industry standards and best practices for reliability engineering.
- Technical Reporting: Complete and submit technical reports in accordance with the Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL), ensuring timely and accurate documentation of findings and progress. Provide clear and actionable insights based on test results to inform stakeholders and drive decision-making.
- Hands-On Chaos Engineering Application: Apply hands-on knowledge of chaos engineering principles by designing and executing chaos experiments in production-like environments. Analyze the outcomes of chaos experiments to identify system weaknesses and recommend improvements.
- Collaboration and Leadership: Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with program objectives. Mentor junior engineers and team members in chaos engineering principles, reliability engineering, and best practices in software development.
Travel: Periodic Travel to Riverdale, MD for project reviews.
Typical Physical Activity: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required: This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must either already possess an active or interim Secret security clearance (highly preferred); OR be eligible for a Secret security clearance prior to start.
Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- At least seven (7) years of recent, relevant experience in software engineering, including at least five (5) years focused on reliability engineering or site reliability engineering (SRE).
- Hands-on experience with chaos engineering principles and practices, including the design and execution of chaos experiments in production-like environments.
- Demonstrated ability to complete and submit technical reports, adhering to Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) guidelines.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in mentoring and guiding junior team members.
- Familiarity with frameworks and tools related to chaos engineering.
- Experience with leading and managing complex programs, particularly in a military or defense setting.
- Excellent collaboration and leadership skills to engage effectively with stakeholders.
- Experience in cyber operations, including threat assessment and mitigation strategies relevant to military systems.
- Knowledge of security protocols and best practices in software development and system integration.
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and AI/ML solutions in the context of system reliability.
- Knowledge of application, data, infrastructure, and integration architecture principles.
- Experience working with government agencies, particularly within the Department of Defense.
- Proficient with common productivity software.
