Position Summary:
The Program Instructor works closely with organizations to assist people with job training and development, analyzing job readiness, and assisting with other services as required.
Primary Duties:
- Collects information to determine appropriate services.
- Performs case management activities including developing and monitoring individualized programs, counseling, and providing documentation on all related activities.
- Abides by and documents all areas required for continued CARF accreditation.
- Trains individuals on job development skills.
- Works harmoniously as part of a team inspiring others.
- Assists in the attainment of established work goals.
- Maintains accurate and current files. All files will be kept strictly confidential. All written reports must be maintained, and copies of all reports sent to the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.
- Refers individuals to community service agencies, as needed.
- Attends all assigned Staffing Reviews.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Requirement(s):
Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university in Rehabilitation Counseling or closely related field.
Licenses & Certification(s):
Valid Motor Vehicle Driver License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Ability to learn, demonstrate, and train individuals with varying abilities on a wide range of topics.
- Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and communicate with supervisor as needed.
- Strong understanding of the principles of vocational evaluation and assessment.
Additional Requirements:
- Supports the mission and vision of Goodwill Industries of Mississippi, Inc.
- Open scheduling availability.
- Maintains a valid driver license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Working knowledge of computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Promotes and demonstrates ethical practices in all activities.
- Promotes a safe work environment and follows all CARF requirements.
- Ability to pass alcohol/drug screenings, criminal background check and any insurance driving record check.
Physical Requirements:
- Works in an environment with occasional high stress, with potentially short deadlines.
- Stands and walks for most of the workday, occasionally sits.
- Routinely bends, stoops, pulls, pushes, reaches, kneels, twists, turns throughout the day.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds in work environment; 50 pounds with team lift in Donations/ADC/ Aftermarket environment, with the ability to do so safely.
Travel:
Significant travel required. May travel to other locations to assist with training activities. Some travel for meetings, conferences and/or trainings may be required.
