About the Job
The Program Production Planner (PPP) is an integral part of the program team and is responsible for the planning, scheduling, and coordination of deliverable products through the complete production cycle for one or more programs. The PPP will serve as the primary point of contact for all production and materials needs for the program. The position will be responsible for the creation of the program’s production schedule, planning material requirements, initiating requisitions, monitoring material status, and resolving problems in order to meet program schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Create and manage the program’s detailed production schedule for implementation into the Program IMS and Production IMS.
- Identify and communicate production resource needs to Production Management.
- Attend and contribute to program design and release reviews to ensure information is available for efficient planning and management of material procurement and production.
- Provide production planning data to Configuration Management (CM) for MRP load and ensure
MRP data is accurate and complete.
- Interface with Program Managers (PMs), Project Engineers (PEs), and Buyers to identify and procure long lead time materials (LLTM).
- Generate material requirements (MOs, Reservations, etc) and initiate purchase requisitions (PRs), and MO releases in MRP system to meet production build schedule.
- Coordinate and provide direction to purchasing to obtain quotes and track material status.
- Develop and maintain a program material plan to track spending against material budget.
- Proactively identify and resolve material shortages and communicate with purchasing.
- Coordinate with PE on design changes which may impact material on order, in stock, and WIP.
- Coordinate disposition of program material following Engineering Changes (Rework, Scrap, etc.)
- Continually monitor production status, report to PM, and adjust plans as needed to meet required delivery dates.
- Participate in production status meetings representing assigned program(s) to ensure that schedules are accomplished or rescheduling is correct and complete.
- Responsible for allocation of material to proper material charge numbers / Inventory Abbreviations.
- Responsible for accuracy of MRP cost on purchased items and cost roll up of completed products.
Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively with many departments within the organization
- Knowledge of Defense industry practices and associated Government Requirements
- Moderate to Advanced (Excel) Computer skills (familiarity with MS office applications and demonstrated ability to use Excel)
- Strong understanding of material flow in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with or understanding of ERP systems used for materials management
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work well in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to obtain appropriate personnel clearance if required (i.e. U.S. Citizenship required)
- Experience with MS Project is a plus
