Fort Cavazos is seeking qualified candidates in the role of Program Protection Specialist to support site’s unclassified information operations. The successful candidate will continue to implement and manage comprehensive information protection strategies focused on Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). This role involves developing, recommending, and enforcing security policies, conducting assessments, and ensuring compliance with relevant Department of Defense (DOD), GD, and GDLS regulations and standards.
The function of the Program Protection Specialist is to assist the Compliance Supervisor and Site Director in ensuring compliance across our market in meeting Program Protection requirements as defined in new and existing programs. Advise leadership, site management, and staff in the interpretation of security policies and the development of plans and procedures to meet customer Program Protection requirements.

Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role
- Assist with assessing, defining, developing, and implementing program protection requirements, including assessing data security provision in technical reviews, specifications, engineering, and test plans, designs, sub-contractor SOWs, RFPs, and other acquisition and engineering plans and documents.
- Assist with assessing incoming SOWs and contract modifications for program protection requirements
- Advise site leadership, staff, and employees in the interpretation of program protection policies and the development of plans and procedures to meet customer program protection requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for handling and protecting CUI.
- Ensure site is complying with federal regulations, such as Executive Orders 13556 & 13526, 32 CFR Part 2002, DoDI, FAR, DFAR, and other polices, and procedures.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all program protection related policies, procedures, and incidents.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the program protection program to address evolving threats and regulatory changes.
- Serve as a point of contact for compliance audits and reviews related to CUI.
- Assist in the management and tracking of data access controls including communication across the user community to ensure compliance with program specific requirements.
- Support development of a consistent folder structure program and manage execution including managing and apply access controls.
- Assist in conducting CUI training for sections.
- Assist in document marking and tracking.
- Identify, promote, and make recommendations for process improvements with applicable DOD and GDLS requirements.
- Process, track, and assist in managing all import/export requests and international shipping
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Sought
- Associate’s degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience in information security, cybersecurity, assessments, risk management, or cybersecurity policy and compliance. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance, if required.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, problem-solving capabilities, and experience implementing compliance programs.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Working knowledge of privacy regulations and impacts such as HIPAA
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and uphold high ethical standards.
- Experience performing self-assessments to comply with DOD, GDLS or other government agency directives.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to analyze DD Form 254’s, Security Classification Guides, and related security documentation for Program Protection requirements.
Additional Information / Desired Experience
- This position may require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance)
- Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required
- Familiarity with military standards and test requirements desired.
- Occasional travel to test sites may be required.
