Summary This position is assigned to the Lexington Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, Police Service Administration Section. The incumbent will serve as a Program Support Assistant under the supervision of the Administrative Officer. The Program Support Assistant (PSA) is responsible for administrative/clerical support for the service. Federal Resume Tips, Please READ This job opportunity announcement (JOA) will be used to fill one (1) full-time and permanent GS-0303-6 Program Support Assistant (OA) vacancy with the Police Service at the Lexington, KY Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC). Duties include, but not limited to: Serves as the timekeeper for all staff assigned to the service; provides administrative, clerical and programmatic support to the Chief. Compiles and maintains data, performs analysis and prepares reports. Utilizes computer software systems for data management, word processing and communications. Receives, screens, prioritizes all incoming correspondence by directing them to the appropriate staff member and ensures deadlines and suspense dates are met. Develops and initiates written correspondence. Maintains office files and supplies. Collects, compiles and/or tracks data and statistical information in support of the service's OS&LE Police Program Inspection. Responds to non-technical requests for information such as status of reports, suspense dates for routine matters requiring compliance, and other information as applicable. Use and Management of the Government Purchase Card Program. Follows policy and procedures for issuance of access control cards, enter required data into CCURE in order to issue cards to those requiring access into access-controlled areas. Provides administrative assistance as the access control assistant/operator for the division assigned. Creates time zones, door groups and function groups as equipment is added or needs change. Alters programming on doors, expansion inputs and expansion relays to ensure proper operation. Routes requests for additional access control measures through the proper channels to ensure physical security integrity. Serves as a Sponsor for Police Service in support of the HSPD-12 program. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/15/2024. Typing Requirement: This position requires the incumbent be able to type 40 words per minute. This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. All candidates MUST provide a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test. All candidates must submit documentation of his/her typing proficiency with their application package to clearly indicate the number of words typed per minute. Signature in pen Print/Type Name You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of policies and operating procedures of VA Police Service. General knowledge of overall medical center administrative structure and channels of communication; knowledge of program organization and functional roles of all sections within the service. Knowledge of Police Service policies and procedures, priorities, commitments and program goals; VA Police program inspection requirements and guidelines and PACS access control system. Skill in operating a personal computer and numerous software programs used to create, edit, and print documents. A qualified typist is required. Skill in using medical center VISTA system in order to enter 2237's into IFCAP and create work order requests. Skill in using CCURE system for access control and VATAS for timekeeping. Ability to work independently in the performance of administrative duties. Skill and ability to work with all levels of personnel, other services and disciplines, management at all levels, external stakeholders, including community organizations and agencies. Ability to communicate effectively through written and oral speech with a variety of individuals, management and professional persons within and outside the VA Medical Center.
