- This role is responsible for shaping the design approach for all Flight distance learning products.
- The incumbent is responsible for ensuring our processes comply with the FAA, company, contract, and departmental standards, and ensuring that other programming team members adhere to these requirements.
What you'll do
- Deploys and supports Pilot Training through the corporate LMS for over 15,000 student users
- Supports Corporate and Regulatory-required DL courses
- Supports off-site training servers for AAPILOTS web pages and content
- Programs, implements, operates, supports and maintains computer-based training software, Distance Learning (eLearning), and media used in pilot training and new training initiatives
- Collaborates with leaders, business analysts, project managers, IT architects, technical leads and other developers, along with internal customers, to understand requirements and develop needs according to business requirements
- Handles interdepartmental contacts for the Programmer group and coordinates policy and processes with other work groups and business unit management
- Maintains and enhances existing enterprise services, applications, and platforms using domain driven design and test-driven development
- Maintains and develops desktop and web apps, databases including SQL and MS Access and Databricks, and macro-driven spreadsheets using VBA, for both internal and interdepartmental uses
- Documents the standards and processes for the general design and development of computer software and media used in support of applicable learning programs, department administration, and associated systems.
- Troubleshoots and debugs complex issues; identifies and implements solutions
- Researches and implements new technologies to enhance current processes, security, and performance.
- Researches and analyzes current industry trends in relation to computer systems in support of flight training, and propose course(s) of action.
- Evaluates computer hardware and software to support the various Instructional Systems and administrative processes.
- Supports the development of coding standards and adheres to best practices and security guidelines
- Works closely with software architects and technical leads to ensure decisions meet long-term enterprise growth needs
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training.
- 3-5 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications in hosted production environments
- 3-5 years of full stack IT project experience, experience in a large corporate training environment (eLearning)
- 2 years supporting LAN/WAN infrastructure, PC hardware and end users or relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
- 5+ years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications in hosted production environments
- 5+ years of full stack IT project experience, experience in a large corporate training environment (eLearning)
- 5+ years supporting LAN/WAN infrastructure, PC hardware and end users
Skills, Licenses, and Certifications
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as SumTotal, eLearning development and tools
- Exposure to web-based languages such as HTML, HTML5, JavaScript, ASP
- Experience in a higher-level programming language and environments such as Visual Studio (C#, .NET), and SQL database development
- LAN/WAN, Website IIS infrastructure management
- Proficiency in object-oriented design techniques and principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Exposure to Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM
- Experience with server, database and VM deployment and support in an Azure environment
- Experience with Active Directory, server OS patches, backup solutions and SSL certificates
- Experience in DevOps Toolchain methodologies, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
- Experience programming & maintaining VBA macros in MS Excel; experience with MS Access
- Airline industry experience
