This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite in La Jolla and remote.

DESCRIPTION
The mission of the UCSD Center for Epigenomics is to develop a quantitative and molecular framework to study the function and regulation of the human genome, with the ultimate goal to understand the molecular basis of cancer and other human diseases. Epigenomics is at the forefront of Precision Medicine. The epigenome, a term referring to the state of DNA methylation and the covalent modifications of histone proteins in a cell, plays a central role in regulating the functional output of the genome during development. Changes in the epigenome that result from exposure to stress, pathogenic conditions and during aging can determine the patterns of gene expression and predispose an individual to diseases. Epigenome research promises to significantly improve our understanding of the factors that drive human development and disease. The UCSD Center for Epigenomics will work with researchers on the UCSD campus and beyond to foster the application of epigenomic concepts and technologies to clinical, translational, and basic research.
Under the general supervision of the Associate Director for Research, the Project Manager will lead the management and coordination of multiple research projects in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent with utilize agile project management techniques to analyze, develop, optimize, and implement solutions to Center operations related to goals, scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and performance.
As part of their primary role as project manager, the incumbent will assist in the management and tracking of data production/research progress across multiple NIH-funded research projects, focusing on neuroscience research projects. The incumbent will work alongside supervisors to manage the data generation team members to ensure that these projects are properly planned, tracked, and executed in a timely manner. Using their laboratory experience in the Center, the incumbent will participate in experimental design and be responsible for careful record keeping, troubleshooting conversations, quality control, and periodically summarizing results for supervisors.
As part of their contributions to outreach and scientific communication, the incumbent will represent the Center at meetings, present research findings at meetings, and work with the Chief Communications Officer to connect with scientists and expand the mission of Precision Medicine. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Theoretical knowledge in molecular biology and biological research or related field as typically attained by an advanced degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to perform molecular biology techniques such as PCR and quantitative PCR.
Proven ability to read, comprehend, and discuss research materials.
Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships in a diverse laboratory environment.
Enthusiasm for learning new techniques, and working in a fast-paced "startup" atmosphere.
Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns. Excellent analytical skills to make recommendations on procedure changes to the lab and Center to improve practices.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff verbally and in writing. Proven ability to write technical and non-technical materials quickly and accurately on an unusually broad range of subjects under tight deadlines
Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Skill in organizing and setting up files with cross-references for easy retrieval and reference. Ability to quickly determine subject matter of material for proper dissemination and handing. Ability to develop, implement, and maintain administrative record retention systems.
Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs. Working knowledge of computing software and applications for word-processing, spreadsheets, database processing, presentations, web and publication design, and calendaring (e.g. Microsoft Office suite, Adobe suite, Google Apps, etc.). Proven ability to utilize spreadsheets and databases to interpret and organize resource and research information and be able to provide customized reports to researchers and analysts as needed. Skill in independently researching compiling, organizing, interpreting and selecting data and materials from various sources. Ability to extract and analyze information from large and complex databases.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to use one or more project tracking systems including Trello, JIRA, MS Project, Zoho, etc.

Willingness to work with animals, lentivirus, radioactive material, human tissue and standard hazardous laboratory compounds.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $66,441 - $106,839 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $31.82 - $51.17
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
