About the Job
We are partnering with a client in the construction industry who is looking to bring on a full time Project Accountant.
The Project Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial tracking, compliance, and timely billing and payments for construction projects. Working closely with Estimators, Project Managers, and In-House Counsel, this position is responsible for reviewing subcontracts, purchase orders, and information sheets, conducting research and analyses, and facilitating seamless financial operations. This position will site onsite at their Concord location.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Set up new projects in Spectrum, HeavyJobs, and Nice Touch, including estimated costs by phase, accounts receivable by line item, and subcontractor payables in Spectrum.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of extra work billings in Nice Touch and ICAS.
- Review project-specific subcontracts and purchase orders for accuracy and compliance.
- Understand and adhere to preliminary lien and release procedures.
- Produce monthly customer billings and track pending change order issues for Project Managers.
- Verify and input change orders, as well as compare and process subcontractor invoices against pay estimates for approval.
- Review and forward subcontractor extra work/time & material invoices.
- Aggressively pursue past due accounts receivable on projects.
- Provide monthly reports to Project Managers, including job cost, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and profit/loss analysis.
- Ensure project compliance by providing required forms (e.g., monthly DBE forms, certified payroll releases, etc.).
- Assist in timely project closeouts, including releases, DBE forms, and guarantees.
- Supervise and guide Project Assistants.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Construction Contract Administrator or Project Accountant.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and 10-key touch.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
