Position Summary
The Project Accountant's primary responsibility is to support the project team regarding contract modifications, compliance, payments, reports and any other duties related to the project. Accountants are expected to occasionally travel to project sites for job status review meetings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting related functions for assigned projects.
- Ensure timely financial closeout of assigned projects
- Prepare estimates for material, labor, products and or services
- Compile and record cost savings on all changed orders, -prepare reports to Program Director
- Assist project teams with any questions or needs related to the financial requirements of the contract.
- Manage compliance, invoices, payments for assigned projects .
- Have an understanding of compliance requirements for assigned projects
- Work with estimators to compile and record cost savings on all change orders, report to upper management.
- Understand construction contracts and make recommendations for updates and or changes to improve performance of contractors
- Uses e-Builder as the communications tool. All reporting must be inputted into that PMIS system.
- Understands project scope and budgets and participates in contractor and A/E evaluations related to timeliness of change orders.
- Coordinates with estimators. construction coordinators and administrators. etc.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree – in accounting or similar business degree.
- Proficiency in mathematics, statistics and data analysis.
- Minimum 5 years experience working as an accountant or bookkeeper.
- Report writing and strategic planning skills.
- Experience in the construction industry preferred.
- Expertise with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets and database functions.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and contract documents.
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Experience in e-Builder, Microsoft Office.
