Job Summary
As a Project Accountant II with Stellar, you’ll play a vital role in the financial management of key projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in project billing, cost tracking, and reporting. You’ll be responsible for handling complex, day-to-day project accounting duties and delivering precise financial insights to both internal and external stakeholders. With occasional mentoring responsibilities, you’ll also have the opportunity to guide junior team members. Flexibility is key, as travel to various job sites will be required.
As a Project Accountant II with Stellar, you’ll play a vital role in the financial management of key projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in project billing, cost tracking, and reporting. You’ll be responsible for handling complex, day-to-day project accounting duties and delivering precise financial insights to both internal and external stakeholders. With occasional mentoring responsibilities, you’ll also have the opportunity to guide junior team members. Flexibility is key, as travel to various job sites will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Weekly forecasting reporting to the Executive Leadership team as well as providing Percentage of Completion status updates
- Reviewing and approving Mastercard transactions and per diem funding
- Close out customer order within IFS and ensure all financial costs are correct prior to closing out the project.
- Approve e-time and process commissions for the sales team
- Collect, verify, and manage billing data to support accurate customer invoicing.
- Maintain detailed, organized project files and records to support seamless audits and project reviews.
- Review and reconcile invoices, project records, and cost reports, addressing any discrepancies.
- Communicate proactively with project personnel, clients, and auditors to resolve issues and facilitate audit processes.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and recommend improvements for more efficient processes.
- Compile and report on project information to support cost analysis and billing accuracy.
- Review field personnel labor hours for project tasks, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Conduct detailed reviews of project expenditures to ensure accuracy in billing and cost estimates.
- Investigate project variances and communicate findings to management.
- Identify potential for additional billing opportunities or cost-saving measures.
- Travel to project sites as necessary.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Qualifications
- Experience: 2-5 years in project accounting or a related accounting role.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, preferred but not required.
Skills and Knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience in data analysis and ad hoc reporting.
- Basic Accounting Knowledge
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Able to make sound decisions using good judgment and discretion.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and a team player.
