Project Architect
Salary Range: $90,000 - $150,000 Per Year (Based on qualifications)
Your Opportunity
Land developer, general contractor, and property manager of industrial and commercial projects seeking an in-house Project Architect with Project Management experience to oversee our design team, manage construction documents including but not limited to conceptual drawings, site plan approval drawings and construction drawings. Must have at least five (5) years of commercial and/or industrial experience.
As the Project Architect you will be responsible for project performance in terms of client satisfaction, design excellence, financial performance, team mentorship, and technical quality. The role primarily involves leadership and management of the internal team with external consultants. The Project Architect may be called upon to manage multiple projects of various complexity and scope.
Your Key Responsibilities
Candidates must have the ability to value engineer projects; coordinate architectural, civil, and structural drawings; strong organizational skills; ability to document and properly archive files electronically. Interpret building and energy code and local ordinances.
- Responsible for managing complex tasks on medium to large size projects.
- Plans, organizes, and directs the work throughout the life of the projects.
- Develop Architectural Drawings – From concept, to site plan approval, to complete construction drawings.
- (Site Plans; Complete construction document preparation; Elevations; Marketing site and floor plans; Renderings; CAD software).
- Interpret municipal ordinances and building codes via Municode, BS&A, ASHRAE, etc.
- Perform field visits and some coordination and procurement of subcontractors.
- Draft Correspondence in Microsoft Word.
- (Transmittals to municipalities, Response Letters to review comments, etc.).
- Document Management.
- (Scanning and filing; Organizing and archiving civil, architectural and structural construction drawings).
- Assist in creating and producing marketing pieces via InDesign.
- Direct oversight of design team.
- Keeps the Senior Management team informed of progress on project expectations, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Manages and tracks change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.
Capabilities and Experience
- Creating architectural designs for industrial and commercial construction
- Designing and development of site plans and schematics
- Entitlement and permit process for all phases of construction
- Comprehensive knowledge of building products, industry standards
- Architectural site plan approval packages
- Archiving/document management
- Reading and interpreting codes including Building Codes, ASHRAE standards
- Simultaneously support one or more Senior Managers on multiple projects.
- Display an excellent understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, building construction systems, means and methods, materials, healthcare regulations and industry associated standards.
- Proactively takes appropriate action without requiring continued direction or guidance.
- Effectively manages multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Be a team player with the client, entire project team and build partners.
- Be an excellent communicator.
- Have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and Newforma preferred.
Education And Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture. Licensed Architect preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Project Architecture, with strong portfolio to show work.
- Excellent drawing skills and ability to critically think through design.
- Highly proficient in design AutoCAD software. Preferred to have experience in Adobe Photoshop, Preferred experience in SketchUp, 3d Studio VIZ, or similar.
- Possess a logical, analytical and creative approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work individually under minimal direction and within teams. Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including adequate presentation skills.
