Overview:
Department: Infrastructure Department
Reports To: Assistant Project Engineer/Project Engineer
Responsibilities/Goals:
a) Produce detailed construction and design plans for architects and engineers from various disciplines to follow, in collaboration with Project Engineers. Project Engineers will provide specifications, and the candidate will create the CAD designs in 2D.
b) Draft designs for civil, stormwater, sanitary sewer, mechanical, electrical, traffic systems, fire alarm, and HVAC systems in collaboration with respective Project Engineers and external consultants at OneH2.
c) Draft and maintain project documentation, including document control systems, project schedules, and project overviews, in collaboration with Project Coordinators and Assistant Project Managers.
d) Draft and maintain document management systems for the CAD designs generated for various projects.
e) Collaborate with external consultants to outsource design work as required. This includes developing the scope of work, understanding various engineering principles, and applying attention to detail and critical thinking, all in collaboration with Project Engineers.
f) Develop plan views and elevation views in 2D using AutoCAD.
g) Perform all other duties as assigned by the Corporation.
Skills & Qualifications Required:
a) A bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, project management, construction management, or a similar field is highly desirable but not essential.
b) Minimum of 2-5 years of industry experience in project engineering, designing, or drafting on relevant projects.
c) Ability to read and understand engineered designs, P&ID's, construction designs, and project specifications.
d) Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D is mandatory.
e) Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
f) Strong attention to detail in drafting designs.
g) Creative in design solutions with an ability to think outside the box.
