Sayres Defense is seeking a Project Control Analyst at the company headquarters office located in Washington, DC. (Hybrid/remote and Remote options available for discussion)
The Project Control Analyst will be responsible for the monitoring of ongoing large Federal Government contracts for Sayres.This position will provide oversight of all financial aspects of the contract using Unanet ERP and Excel. Job duties include working closely with the Contracts Department on funding documents for subcontractors, subcontractor cost tracking and accruals (including approving subcontractor invoices), prime modification review, estimates at completion (EAC), monthly deliverable and status report coordination, and billing to include any backup spreadsheet documents. The analyst will communicate heavily with the Finance and Accounting organization along with the Contracts organization and Project/Program Managers and the PCA finance team.
To achieve the highest level of success in this role, it's imperative to possess the following preferred skills:
- Experience with the Unanet Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, showcasing your expertise in managing project finances, resources, and schedules effectively.
- A demonstrated track record in Cost Plus Project Control, highlighting your ability to manage project costs and budgets efficiently.
- A solid background of 4-8 years in a role within a project control team, showcasing your capability to guide and collaborate to achieve project objectives.
- A deep understanding of government procurement regulations and contracting practices, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), is indispensable for ensuring strict compliance and adherence to legal standards.
- A strong skill set in identifying, assessing, and proactively mitigating risks associated with projects, ensuring smoother project execution and reduced uncertainties.
- The ability to effectively prioritize tasks, consistently meet deadlines, and proficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously is vital in the fast-paced environment of government contracting.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Meet deadlines/due dates for creation and submission of Estimates At Completion (EAC), Monthly Status Reports (MSR), Invoices and any special reporting for delivery to internal Project and Program Managers and External Clients
- Coordinate financial data calls with Program Manager and Finance
- Risk tracking as related to funding burn and exhaustion
- Serve as liaison for flow of financial information with Program Manager, Deputy Program Manager and corporate finance staff.
- Interface with Accounting (Payroll, G/L and Accounts Payable) on all contract-related financial charges (labor, subcontractors, consultants, travel and material costs)
- Accounts Receivable Aging tracking and resolution for assigned projects
- Reconcile unbilled receivables
- Effectively interact and communicate with customers to resolve any billing issues in a timely manner
- Work with Contracts/Subcontracts to track 75% threshold notifications, funding burns and needs, modification statuses, and funding of subcontractors
- Perform quality control checks to verify information entered in Unanet
- Other tasks as needed to help the team meet objectives and requirements
Qualifications & Clearance Requirements
Minimum Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates
- Knowledge of Federal Government contract types (Cost Plus, Time and Materials, Fixed Price),
- Knowledge of Indirect Rates and how they are applied to costs
- Ability to read government contract awards and modifications
- Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups)
- Knowledge of Unanet Accounting Software preferred
- Detail-oriented self-starter with strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and remain flexible
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of accounting practices and concepts
Education, Work Experience Requirement:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 4 to 7 years of experience in financial management and program control.
- Preferred years of experience 7-10 years
- Ability to obtain Secret clearance if/when needed.
