About the Job
Overview: We are seeking a motivated Project Controls Specialist I to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for routine project control assignments under close supervision. This position is ideal for individuals looking to develop their skills and work more independently while gaining a solid understanding of project control principles and associated software. You will primarily be assigned to White or Green I projects as outlined in the Project Management Center of Excellence Project Profile Matrix.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the routine aspects of project control assignments with guidance from senior team members.
- Develop a foundational understanding of project control principles.
- Utilize project management software to support scheduling and financial tasks.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and contribute to project success.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree from a two-year college or university in business, finance, project management, engineering, technical field, or a related discipline. Alternatively, a minimum of 2 years of project controls experience in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic project control principles.
- Relevant project-related experience from work or academic settings.
- Proficient in project management concepts and computer applications, including scheduling software, financial tools, and spreadsheets.
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in business, finance, project management, engineering, technical field, or a related discipline.
- PMI or AACE certification (such as PMP, CAPM, PMI-SP, AACE-CCC, AACE-PSP, AACE-CEP, AACE-EVP) is preferred.
- Familiarity with software tools including MS Project, Primavera, Business Objects, Passport, MS Office Suite, Prolog, Visio, Powerplant, Emax, and PeopleSoft.
- Ability to interact with individuals at various levels within the organization and manage relationships with external suppliers/vendors.
