Alpha Building Corporation is currently seeking a Project Coordinator
The Project Coordinator coordinates and supervises at a project level all engineering and administrative policies, procedures and functions. Coordinates with project field operations to ensure transfer of information is delivered, understood and implemented.
The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively, highly motivated, able to multitask, and possess time management skills in order to set priorities and meet deadlines. You must be able to follow through with all tasks and maintain professionalism while interacting with customers and co-workers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall coordination of the various aspects of the project; including safety, performance, budget, scheduling, equipment management and quality.
- Ensures strict adherence to safety, ethics, and compliance requirements at all times.
- Communicates work plan, duty assignments, responsibilities, and scope of authority for project team.
- Establishes and maintains procedures with the design professionals, consultants, owner and subcontractors for information flow, approvals, meetings, reporting, applications for payment etc.
- Works with Preconstruction, Estimating, and Purchasing to support development of initial project budget.
- Leads the preconstruction effort as it relates to project communication for a successful mobilization.
- Participates in preparation of various studies, recommendations for materials and methods, and cost estimates.
- Prepares detailed contract items list including all significant items required for the construction of the project. Develops trade scope of work documents for bid packages, major material, and equipment purchases.
- Prepares a procurement schedule for subcontractors, major material and equipment purchases to ensure timely buy-outs and overall compliance with the construction schedule is maintained.
- Manages financial status of the project including preparation of project status and accuracy of financial reports.
- Schedules, conducts, and documents all job meetings, owner-architect and coordination meetings.
- Manages the subcontract change order process including review of subcontractor estimates, negotiate change orders, obtain required owner approvals and preparation of subcontract change orders.
- Manages project close-out, including securing warranties, guarantees, and acceptance of work, subcontract and vendor close, final payment and records retention.
- Performs other duties as determined and required based on project need.
Education & Licenses
- Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a current Texas driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
Experience
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Working Conditions
- Performs work in outdoor weather conditions with exposure to extreme cold, heat, and noise depending upon project site; and may also include the following:
- dust, fumes, cleaning chemicals, and/or other harsh/hazardous solvents or disinfectants
- electrical components, power lines, or other electrical hazards
- rebar, blades, or other sharp objects/tools
- high elevations, trenches, or crawl spaces
- Travel locally during the work day to project sites, although some out-of-area travel may be expected with occasional overnight travel.

Skills & Physical Requirements
- In depth knowledge of all of the phases of construction.
- Strong knowledge all applicable state and federal regulatory, environmental and safety guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of, and adherence to, company and OSHA safety guidelines applicable to the work.
- Strong knowledge of field supervision and quality control for all phases of construction along with the ability to manage and develop project employees.
- Strong understanding of construction sourcing, scheduling, costing and change orders.
- Strong understanding and comprehension of blueprints, drawings, sketches, and other detailed specifications and plans.
- Proficient in construction-related software applications such as Procore, Microsoft Project, and Sage Intacct.
- Strong knowledge of laptop, note pad, or other computer devices used with construction-related work activities.
- Strong organization, delegation, and time management skills in order to set priorities and meet assigned deadlines.
- Strong communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills, and an ability to explain construction concepts to others in unrelated disciplines.
- Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools and controls.
- Frequently lift or move up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
- Ability to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information through verbal communications in person or over the telephone.
- Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents; operate a computer or other office machinery; and detect objects in and around a job site.
- Regularly stand and walk distances on slippery, even, and/or uneven surfaces.
- Stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, turn, or crawl.
- Climb and balance on stairs, metal/wooden beams, concrete form work, ladders, or other structures/elevated areas when visiting project sites.
- Meet insurance company requirements for driving on company business.
- Adhere to the highest standards of ethics, integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
- Work with deadlines and time constraints.
- Read, understand and communicate Alpha Employee Handbook, Alpha Safety Program and the Company’s standard operating procedures.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Project a courteous, professional and positive approach with clients, subcontractors, employees, and authorizing agencies while providing prompt, efficient, and accurate assistance.
- Maintain a smooth working relationship with the customer, the customer's personnel, subcontractors and local suppliers.
- Make independent decisions based on experience or knowledge with minimal supervision.
- Participate in training and development opportunities offered to maintain construction-related software and safety knowledge.
- Comprehend and communicate instructions/directions in accordance with safety requirements, which necessitate no language barriers exist between employees and supervisors.
- Adhere to and perform functions according to company safety, quality, and cost control programs and OSHA safety guidelines.
- Wear personal protective equipment as required, such as steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, and the like while conducting job site visits.
- Maintain regular, timely, and predictable attendance.
- Able to pass Non-DOT drug screen, Motor Vehicle Records check, and background check.
- Able to travel as needed.
