Project Development Manager
This position is responsible for all aspects of project development, project execution, deal origination and financial close across the client portfolio of assets and development pipeline. This position also defines project objectives, tasks, and timelines and executes to deliver overall asset development and asset management project goals. S/he interfaces with project stakeholders including electric transmission, natural gas, off-takers, water supply, permitting, EPC, local authorities, government entities, permitting authorities, and 3rd party consultants to identify project requirements and develop efficient solutions. S/he also ensures timely and cost-effective delivery of power generation assets leading to the financial close of projects and project execution thru to commercial operation. In addition, this role identifies project bottlenecks and efficiently, and cost-effectively, develops and executes solutions. S/he performs project evaluation and investment analysis to support capital allocation decisions and optimize asset returns. This role is responsible for the development, management, negotiation and execution of project agreements in support of construction, funding, operation and ownership of power generation assets. Supports all aspects of financial close due diligence and project execution.
Position Responsibilities
Location: 100 % in office in the Houston area, with 25% travel. Will allow for 2 days work from home after training.
Asset Management
- Monetize operating portfolio by working with third-party Energy Manager
- Manage asset daily settlements in conjunction with Energy Manager
- Interface with asset O&M provider on all reporting requirements
- Meet compliance, regulatory and operating requirements
- Budget development and execution (P&L, operating cost, forecasting)
- Plant operations interface on asset performance
- Offtake, gas, water, transmission agreement management
- Perform due diligence on prospective project and market locations
- Find land, water, transmission, gas, air and all other project infrastructure solutions
- Work with regulatory, government affairs, permitting authorities, env assessment solutions
- Work with off-takers to establish the commercial basis and optimum location of asset
- Manage 3rd party consultants to deliver cost-effective development solutions
- Develop project development spend budgets and manage to most cost-effective outcome
- Support and lead bank, investor, and off-taker due diligence to close on lender financing, equity capital, and offtake agreements
- Provide post-financial close and NTP support of all project execution/construction eg construction permitting, local authority approvals, transmission interconnect, gas interconnect, water interconnect,ERCOT commissioning, plant start-up
- Serve as IE interface and management during construction and loan draws
- Conduct equity partner due diligence / Q&A support
- Manage all project execution reporting requirements associated with lending partners
- Work and develop analytics around market and commercial structure with third parties like ICF, Leidos,Ascend Analytics, and PA Consulting
- Identify and develop commercial market opportunity and develop a deal structure and aggregating component pieces into a financeable project
- Work with battery suppliers, renewable developers/owners, and offtake hedge providers to assemble a viable project commercial structure
- Build pro Formas in cooperation with internal modeling expertise to screen and develop projects to financeable maturity
- Serve as a lender and investor interface on raising capital around the platform
- Develop market CIM / presentation material to support lender, off-taker and investor outreach
- Develop and manage a green hydrogen production model in concert with internal modeling expertise that advances efforts towards a green hydrogen project
- Prove our 100% hydrogen burn capability as a means to fully green the platform by working in concert with internal ProEnergy engineering, design and manufacturing personnel
- Bachelor Degree; Degree in Engineering preferred
- 5+ years of power generation and/or industry related experience
- Proven project management experience involving large multi-functional tasks and multiple counterparties
- Demonstrated technical, economic and commercial evaluation in supporting decision making
- P&L improvement experience in power generation portfolios
- Proven experience leading and managing multi-functional teams
- Must read, write and speak fluent English.
- Successful candidates will need to satisfactorily complete apre-employment drug screen and background check
