POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Project Director Overdose Prevention
Salary Grade 25: $88,938 (Hiring Rate) - $101,067 (Mid-Rate)
The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidates to fill the position of Project Director Overdose Prevention in the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), Division of Addiction Treatment and Recovery (ATAR). The incumbent would serve as the Project Director of Overdose Prevention and be responsible for developing a plan for distribution of Overdose Prevention Activities and Supplies across NYS. The selected candidate should have strong management, writing, and oral communication skills; ability to work cooperatively with diverse stakeholders; and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The selected candidate must have ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment with changing needs and priorities; and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and/or PowerPoint.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The successful candidate would be able to work across OASAS to assist in the development of an agency/system - wide overdose prevention plan that would include the following:
- Coordinating the agency's distribution of Overdose Prevention Materials.
- Coordinating the agency Overdose Prevention Activities by developing a mechanism and plan for getting Overdose Prevention Kits into non-traditional settings, i.e.: retail stores, restaurants, and public libraries.
- Working with Communication to Brand the agency's Overdose Prevention Activities.
- Supervising the agency's Overdose Prevention Trainers.
- Working with the Division of Planning, Research, Information Management and Evaluation (PRIME) and Grants Management & Special Projects (GMSP) to provide monthly and quarterly updates on Overdose Prevention activities.
- Working to develop a Train the Trainer Model for the Overdose Prevention Work.
- Maintaining and keeping a list of all Overdose Prevention Programs in NYS.
- Provide oversight of the day-to-day operations of Project COPE.
- Travel: 50%
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in a substance use disorder (SUD), health, or mental health field; or
- A master's degree with 2 years of professional experience a noted above; or
- A Doctorate degree with 1 year of professional experience noted above.
- Candidates must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in public health, public administration, sociology, psychology, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience implementing projects of similar size and complexity is desirable, including examples of projects and references who can speak to the success of those projects.
- Experience working in culturally diverse communities is an asset.
