About the Job
Summary
Our client is a well-known and highly sought after speciality steel fabricator, designer, and builder located in the Sacramento area of California. They are currently in immediate need of a Project Engineer (PE) to be added to their team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Document Control
Create, publish, send, file on server, and follow up with RFIs (requests for information) and submittals.
Ensure that files and folders on the server follow the standard file naming convention and folder structure
Receive bid documents from the estimating team and organize across the project folder in the appropriate folders. If a document is missing from estimating or the customer, request, receive and file those documents.
Create Change Order Requests and review with PM prior to sending to the customer.
Receive, file, send, any subcontractor project documents as required.
Receive, file, and track field Daily Statement of Labor (DSL’s) to be turned into COR’s.
Understand and verify compliance to project specs and AISC throughout the project lifecycle.
Receive and file updated contract drawings and archive or slip sheet old drawings set to be the most current. Inform the team of new drawing sets.
Print drawings for installation crew and/or ensure they have the most up to date set of drawings.
Project Management Assistance
Assist the PM to track and control project costs (Traculator).
Assist the PM to coordinate the project internally from design to fabrication to shipping to installation (Release for Fabrication, Requests for Detailing, Requests for Estimating, Requests for Shop Work)
Source vendors and collect pricing for project-specific material purchases.
Attend and participate in periodic project meetings.
If engineering is required, initiate contact with engineering firm and secure
Qualifications & Requirements
2-4 years of higher education (Construction Management or Engineering preferred) and/or trade experience.
Physical Demands
The position will require the occasional physical ability to climb, and function in elevation changes by means of self-propulsion to include ladders, scaffolding, stairs, etc.
Ability to negotiate construction work areas in a safe manner and behavior.
Performing the duties, the employee will regularly be in an active onsite construction environment where they will be exposed to moving mechanical components & equipment.
