Take the next step in your career in this hybrid position in the Winchester, VA area. This Project Engineer position requires experience designing instrumentation and control systems, field instrumentation, control panels, loop drawings, camera and security subsystems and network design.
Our client is a growing systems integration company working on automation projects! In this role, you will use electrical, mechanical, chemical and/or computer engineering principles to provide design of instrumentation and control (I&C) systems for simultaneous projects spanning multiple customers.
Our client is willing to train in these and other areas; field instrumentation, loop drawings, camera and security subsystems and networking.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Computer Engineering is preferred.
- Must have experience with field instrumentation hardware and control panel design.
- Must have experience with circuit design.
- Must be familiar with UL standards.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Microsoft Office
- Must have at least 3 years of AutoCAD or similar experience.
TRAVEL
Estimated at less than 20% overnight travel. Visits to a project site to gather information, conduct meetings or otherwise meet with customers will occur periodically.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Panel Design
- Designs panel hardware drawings for provided control and network panels based on the following: (a) what was quoted in our scope letter, (b) the requirements as defined in the Contract Documents, (c) any standardized products currently in use at the facility, and (d) the project budget.
- Interprets the Contract Documents to determine installation requirements (e.g. panel sizing, interior versus exterior location, etc.).
- Develops hardwired IO list using standard templates.
- Panel design shall consist of a bill of materials consisting of “major buyout” items (e.g. enclosure, PLC hardware, network hardware) and the IO list.
- Coordinates and manages the efforts of drafting group to efficiently generate AutoCAD drawings.
- Generates a Panel Hardware Submittal for review and approval by Engineer and Owner on project.
- Responds to and follow-up on submittal comments.
- Performs basic panel checkout excluding PLC programming (e.g. hardware placement, electrical continuity, etc.).
