Project Overview:
- The e-Mobility Technology and Engineering group is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and ongoing operation of emerging and established transportation electrification technologies and business models, including but not limited to direct current fast charging (DCFC), public level 2 charging, workplace charging, charging as a service, fleet electrification, transit electrification and load control, for the benefit of company, its customers and stakeholders.
- The group research develops and packages for program implementation, new, highly technical and innovative technologies and business models to improve company’s energy services offerings and to enhance company’s competitive position.
- The group also implements new energy solutions for company customers to enhance their competitiveness and loyalty to the organization.
Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Administer contracts and supervise contractors.
- Leverage in house technical expertise with industry knowledge and experience to provide technology solutions to company’s core business and its customers.
- Carry out work to support the implementation and ongoing operation of innovative electric transportation projects at company sites and customer locations.
- Specify technical request for proposals and supervise contractors to procure and install equipment and provide services.
- Provide technical input to the organization in electric transportation technologies through research and industry collaboration.
- Research technical solutions to manage customer and stakeholder requests for information.
- Represent the organization as a technical expert on industry committees and industry groups by preparing reports and presentations and coordinating project collaboration to leverage industry knowledge for company and customer benefits.
- Support the operation of a growing fleet of electric transportation projects at the organization and customer locations through supervision of project managers and service contractors.
- Support and coordinate technology transfer within company and throughout its customer and stakeholder base by communicating successes and lessons learned to foster the adoption of cost saving and clean energy innovations.
- Maintain access and exposure to the latest technology developments and products, analytical and computer simulation tools and processes through research and industry contacts for the benefit of company and customer core activities.
- Direct and oversee contractor and consultant work for technical accuracy, schedule and cost.
- Recommend program priorities, scope and direction in consultation with the Program Manager.
- Review contractor and consultant proposals as well as recommendations from colleagues and recommend project contract awards.
- Approve payment of invoices and change orders.
- Identify resources required to meet program and business objectives.
- Supervise the activities of contractors, including design and implementation, and procurement service contractors, prepare and monitor contractor performance and evaluation plans.
- Coordinate activities of customer representatives and other engineers, and contractors; prepare budget proposals, project scheduling and project reporting.
- May be called upon to support the Program Manager in various tasks.
Skills:
- Technical and self-motivated individual; must be persuasive and possess strong negotiating skills; ability to provide guidance and motivation to supervised contractors and to customer representatives.
- Project management skills required to implement studies and projects; ability to work independently or as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Good understanding of the electric utility industry; broad technical knowledge across specific engineering discipline.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; good written and verbal communication skills; possess the ability to effectively present ideas to and persuade intended audiences.
- Able to investigate, analyze and develop solutions to unique and multi-faceted problems and complex issues.
- Good working knowledge of the latest standards, codes Working knowledge of various metering devices, instrumentation and control and data acquisition equipment.
- Working knowledge of computer-based office programs for word processing and data manipulation
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of applicable experience with a utility, research organization, relevant manufacturer, contractor, consultant or energy services company
