Position Summary
The Project Engineer III will spearhead the development of space-capable products from initial requirements through to delivery. Working within a multi-disciplinary integration team comprising Software, Hardware, Mechanical, FPGA, and Systems Engineering experts, you will serve as the primary technical point of contact for both internal and external customers. Your role involves tackling complex technical challenges with innovative solutions, providing expertise, and coordinating technical efforts across the project engineering team.
Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineering Managers to define the engineering scope across all program phases.
- Lead the architecture, requirements definition, design, development, testing, and production of real-time embedded systems.
- Work with the engineering team to capture and define derived requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight throughout the product lifecycle.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks at all stages of the program.
- Guide the engineering team in the creation and review of contractually required technical deliverables.
- Collaborate with Systems Engineering to define and develop test cases.
- Drive the development of new products and enhancements to existing systems.
- Design, code, test, integrate, and document software and system solutions.
- Ensure adherence to software and system design standards in accordance with Innoflight practices.
- Follow established development practices to maintain configuration management and release processes for Innoflight software products.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience and education may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 7 or more years of relevant work experience.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional projects from conception through to completion.
- Extensive experience with embedded systems development, debugging, and integration.
- Demonstrated expertise in software system architecture and design.
- Knowledge of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and low-level device drivers.
- Experience with Linux development environments and related software components.
- Proven ability to evaluate system performance trade-offs related to hardware, software, and FPGA design choices.
- Solid understanding of networking and communication protocols.
- Ability to effectively address sensitive inquiries and complaints.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Frequently required prolonged periods in stationary position at a desk entering text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to move, position self, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally transport up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers, far visual acuity, and peripheral vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Salary Range
$130,000.00 - $150,000.00 Per YearHowever, Innoflight considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills. Employees may be eligible for profit sharing and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. In addition, Innoflight provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, 401K, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
