A Project Engineer provides support to the Superintendent & Project Managers on an assigned project. Performs routine daily activities & assist in gathering & distributing information to team members.

Island Mechanical Corporation is a general contractor in Hawaii specializing in pipeline construction, fabrication and directional drilling for major utility companies, refineries, and the federal government.
Responsibilities:- Serves as project technical resource to interpret plans and specifications
- Resolves questions and problems as they arise
- Participate in the development of the project estimate & associated negotiations
- Acquire vendor & subcontractor quotes
- Work with the safety department to develop a site-specific safety plan
- Discuss weekly safety topic with the construction team & participate in daily safety briefs
- Coordinate project specific materials pickup & delivery to jobsite
- Work with the Superintendent to obtain & setup the required yard & office equipment
- Develop & accurately update the project schedule
- Report production quantities on a weekly basis
- Submit weekly report to the owner containing project status, schedule update, safety report, two-week look ahead, outstanding issues, & pending change orders
- Track, analyze, & report costs of labor, equipment, & material, subcontractors, outside rentals & trucking
- Maintain communications with all members of the construction team including the owner & its representatives, the inspection team, subcontractors & any other stakeholders involved
- Forecast project Cost to Complete & present findings to executives on a monthly basis
- Submit RFIs to the owner for questions & change order conditions
- Prepare a set of red line As-Built drawings for the owner’s archive
- Closeout project when complete, including: hosting the project closeout meeting, indexing all the project documents into the project file, submitting internal closeout documentation
- Other related duties and projects as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent
- Experience in place of the degree would be 5 (Five) years as a Project Coordinator, with field experience in various divisions throughout the company
- Acquired certain specialized skills from exposure to specific projects, technologies, or industries (e.g., fueling, electrical, or gas)
- Possesses strong written & verbal communications skills & manages time effectively
- Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Project & Excel
- Detail oriented with a positive attitude & eagerness to learn
- Ability to work extended hours when necessary for business needs
- Experience working in construction is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed
- Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Assists with the training and efficiency of Project Coordinators
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed at project sites and in an office and/or trailer
- Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Pay- $ 81,000 - $ 97,000 /Annually *Depending on Experience levels
