About the Job
The Candidate shall provide support service for network connectivity issues for SQL servers, and provide support to application servers. Service shall also include installing, configuring, and managing the VMware vSphere software (vCenter and ESXi). VMware management on the internal network is a shared service between the CLIENT and the 502 CS. For vulnerability management, the service shall include installing and managing server and application security to include AFCERTS, STIGS, SRRs, NOTAMs, TCNOs, scanning and audit log monitoring. For web server administration, service shall include installing, configuring, and managing ISS servers and support to application developers. The Candidate shall provide support in troubleshooting and restoring network connectivity at remote CLIENT sites and shall report and document any security incidents to CLIENT INFOSEC personnel. The Candidate shall also provide monitoring of the network and all component parts at the CLIENT remote locations. The Candidate shall diagnose and analyze any network functional server hardware and software problems and provide recommended solutions to the Government for resolution. The Candidate shall respond to any detected security incidents, network faults (errors) and reported outages. The Candidate shall collect and archive the data necessary to conduct detailed infrastructure mapping and analysis, producing time-sensitive displays and threshold alerts, and developing a course of action scenarios. This support also includes providing technical assistance to system and application administrators, helping to maintain their connectivity to the network and accessibility to their users. Additional SA services the Candidate shall provide at this level include:
Configures access control lists to grant/restrict network access to authorized users and processes.
Monitors network performance daily and reports problems and projected time for correction.
Uses Air Force approved network management software & tools to monitor throughput rates and provide findings to government lead.
Monitors the number of concurrent connections to file shares, sessions, and load on network devices.
Checks remote monitoring for port performance and modify switch configuration accordingly.
Support AFCEC personnel with special projects whether at the AFCEC building or at remote locations.
Minimum Experience/ Requirements
- Be familiar with IT concepts, practices and procedures and be Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III certified IAW DoD Manual 8570.01, and Microsoft, Unix, and Cisco industry standards, and maintain certification status.
- Full understanding of the interconnectivity of fiber optics, coaxial and copper (twisted pair) broadband and baseband Ethernet, wireless technology, local area networks and leased data circuits for wide area networking and telecommunications including VoIP and videoconferencing.
- Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in data recovery, backups, Active Directory, and remote network service tools.
- Minimum eight (8) years’ experience setting up, configuring and supporting internal and/or external networks, systems and servers.
- The candidate shall have an active Secret clearance
Estimated Workload
- Continually monitors network connectivity using 502 CS monitoring tools for possible outages and throughput issues.
- Troubleshoots network connectivity issues within Bldg. 1, AFSFC buildings, and designated remote site locations as required
