About the Job
Responsibilities will include configuring system equipage based on the Customers’ requirements, estimating power and performance budgets, evaluating system reliability and availability. As a Project Engineer, you will work within a multi functional group of engineers from R&D, Manufactruring and Marine Organizations. This is a fast paced and dynamic environment requiring the ablility to handle multiple concurrent projects while optimizing efficiency and maintaining engineering excellence. The scope of work will require providing responses to Customers’ technical questions, delivering technical presentations and generating related technical documentation. The position expects daily collabaration with Sales, R&D Engineers and Optical Designers in order to address customers’ questions and compile internal and external documentation for all stages of a project: from pre-sale activities to manufacturing, installation and system commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate internal teams to develop technical solutions for new undersea fiber optics cable networks.
- Prepare technical proposals and ensure timely delivery of required documents.
- Review technical specifications to define project scope for R&D Engineers and assist Sales in developing bid strategy.
- Support technical discussions with system purchasers during system bid process.
- Work with the PLM on defining product features needed for a given system bid.
- Provide technical support during contract forming and contract variation negotiations.
- Facilitate Technical Working Group meetings with Purchasers and Project Management.
Qualifications
- BS in Engineering or related technical field is required (MS is prefered).
- Understanding of optical networking concepts and building blocks, such as optical fiber, amplifier, optical add-drop multiplexer, coherent transpoder.
- Course work and/or experience in the area of fiber optiics and telecommunications.
- Strong presentation skills and ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- International and domestic travel will be required at times.
