Position Overview: We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Project Engineering Manager with a specialization as a Structural Lead Engineer to work on plant modification packages in a U.S. operating nuclear plant. This role involves managing structural design projects, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring that tasks are completed on schedule and within budget. The successful candidate will bring expertise in structural engineering for nuclear facilities, including seismic and structural evaluations.
Key Responsibilities:
Structural Engineering Leadership: Serve as the structural lead engineer, preparing structural design change packages, and coordinating tasks among interdisciplinary engineering teams and vendors.
Design and Evaluation: Conduct structural calculations and evaluations, supporting designs for piping, cable supports, equipment anchoring, instrument racks, concrete floor load impacts, and seismic responses.
Project Scope and Coordination: Interface with plant stakeholders to define project requirements, support construction, implementation, and startup activities, and coordinate structural engineering efforts with other disciplines.
Judgment and Compliance: Exercise sound judgment in complex situations, review work completed by others for accuracy, compliance, and coordination, and ensure adherence to codes and nuclear standards.
Estimating and Scheduling: Develop material and work-hour estimates, as well as engineering and design schedules, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
Licensing:
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is required, with the ability to obtain a PE in Texas.
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is required, with the ability to obtain a PE in Texas.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial steel and concrete design.
- At least 5 years of experience in structural modifications and evaluations within commercial nuclear power plants.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial steel and concrete design.
Industry Knowledge:
- Familiarity with nuclear standards and guidelines.
- Existing Design Engineer qualifications at a commercial nuclear power plant.
- NANTeL Certification in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01).
- Field experience in an operating nuclear plant environment.
- Familiarity with nuclear standards and guidelines.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (PR).

Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting complex electrical systems.
