As a valuable member of our Environment team, you will join the Wetlands and Ecological Services Group and will work with an experienced team of scientists and engineers across our Northeast offices. You can sit in either the Middletown or Shelton, Connecticut office. We offer a hybrid work environment and flexible Fridays in the summer.
Our Environment Team and Projects
Our Environment group is nearly 100 strong throughout our Northeast offices. The work we do covers site assessment, remediation, wetland science, regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, and other ways we can support client work with state and local governments, utilities, private clients, industry, colleges, and hospitals.
What will you be doing?
As a Project Wetlands Scientist, you will be doing a combination of field work, report preparation, and permit application writing. You will coordinate with field teams performing ecological and wetlands surveys and construction inspections. You will perform natural resource surveys including wetland delineations and functional assessments, wildlife habitat evaluations and rare species surveys, including soil characterization and plant species identification. You will coordinate with client and project teams for permit requirements and prepare studies and technical reports. You will also be involved in environmental compliance monitoring and participate in public hearings.
What do you need?
You should have at least five years of experience working in environmental consulting or a similar field with a BS or MS in an environmental or natural sciences field with coursework in ecology, hydrology, botany, and soils. You should have a demonstrated experience with wetlands permitting at the federal, state, and local level. You should also have technical writing skills and presentation skills. Experience with conducting wetland delineations and certifications including Registered Soil Scientist and Professional Wetland Scientist are preferred. If you had other certifications such as Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) or other stormwater inspector certification, that would be helpful.
