Our Craftsmen team includes one subsidiary, Schantz Manufacturing. Schantz focuses on custom manufacturing of concession trailers for the fair and festival industry.

Position Title: Project Estimator
Location: St. Charles, MO
Position Summary: Provides accurate winning estimates and proposals for our customers in a timely manner. Works closely with the Sales, Production, Project Management, Purchasing and Engineering Departments. We get to work on fun, one-of-a-kind projects for great customers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Calculate estimates that work for highly customized, multi-purpose, fixed & mobile, and multi-trade constructed assets.
- Analyze and develop solutions/methods for multi-trade, mechanical, architectural, and electrical portions of bid proposals.
- Organize, schedule, prioritize, plan, and prepare estimates that are competitive and address risk factors.
- Collaborate and communicate closely with the bidding team, sales, business development, engineering, production, and other departments.
- Seek and obtain input from shop production teams and functions as well as engineering and project management staff.
- Review renderings, drawing take-offs, specifications, and proposed project operating costs while considering site conditions.
- Provide accurate estimates for the commercial, retail, transportation, military, industrial and marketing industries.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates of all direct costs for materials, production hours, design hours, and project management.
- Quickly generate and provide Rough Order of Magnitude conceptual estimates from provided renderings.
- Develop and refine estimating standards and configurator data for projects over time.
- Document key assumptions, overall estimate logic, risk considerations and approach to estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes with Purchasing Team to fulfill requirements and scope of work.
- Collaborate to ensure that estimated, selected, and supplied material meet local/state/federal specifications for applications.
Required Skills:
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent.
- Technical degree or a minimum of 3 years' experience as a multi-trade estimator or designer with responsibility for detailed project costing.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, Outlook, Work and Excel.
Preferred Skills:
- Technical degree in Construction Management or a related field.
- Experience in mutli-trade construction, specialty industrial process equipment, mechanical contracting, infrastructure estimation and commercial construction environments are valuable.
- Ability to work with engineering models and drawings as well as CAD software for all trades
- Knowledge of estimating electrical, electronics and audio-visual systems.
- Experience with configurator software and tools.
Physical Requirement:
- Sitting, standing, and walking in office, warehouse, and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to climb in and out of trailers, scaffolding and up ladders.
- Ability to bend, lift, and position self to move about the office, as needed.
- Required use of fingers and hands to operate a computer.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close and/or color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to travel at least up to 5%.
