Discover your #H2Opportunity **Job Description** The Water Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking a proactive Project Geotechnical Engineer. This position is located in our Virginia Beach, VA office. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below: + Performing and managing small to medium-sized geotechnical projects and working closely with other disciplines to meet the project needs under the supervision of senior engineers + Mentoring younger engineers + Planning and oversight of subsurface investigation programs. + Adhere to AECOM safety culture and maintain a safe work environment + Assigning, reviewing, and performing statistical analysis on the results of the geotechnical laboratory testing + Performing and reviewing design calculations for pavements, shallow and deep foundations, tunnel components, retaining walls, temporary and permanent support of excavation + Perform and peer review settlement analyses, ground improvement analyses, slope stability analyses, seepage analyses, + Working with the geophysics group to manage combined subsurface exploration programs + Prepare engineering reports and memoranda + Working in multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists with effective collaboration. + Performing construction oversight + Reviewing design reports and calculations performed by other firms and providing detailed review comments. + Reviewing construction submittals and providing detailed review comments. + Finding opportunities to bring innovation to the operations using data science, data analytics, and artificial intelligence. + Participating in local professional events to represent AECOM + Travel for projects domestically and internationally for one week to a month at a time. **Qualifications** + BA/BS Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education + Experience with pavement design, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability + Experience with AutoCAD, gINT, MathCAD, Geostudio, and other geotechnical analysis software + A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated professional experience in the field and office. + Ability to travel domestically and internationally for 2 to 4 weeks at a time. + P.E. Certification + Ability to work in inclement weather + Ability to lift 50 lbs + Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required + Valid U.S. Driver's license and as a condition of employment, able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review.) + **Preferred Skills/Experience:** + Knowledge of geology within the tidewater area of Virginia + Thorough understanding of the concepts of soil mechanics and foundation engineering + Prior experience working on projects for the US Army Crops of Engineers, NAVFAC. + Experience in monitoring general geotechnical construction + Possess active or ability to obtain a security clearance + Demonstrated hands-on experience in conducting large-scale subsurface investigations using various drilling methodologies. + Experience with geotechnical laboratory testing. + Experience with installation and monitoring of instrumentation + Experience with technical report writing + Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skill **Additional Information** + Sponsorship is not available for this position. + Relocation assistance is available for this role. \#LI-SG1 Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications.
