Project Manager, Harbor & Outfall Monitoring

The MWRA is looking for a Project Manager who will manage Boston Harbor and Boston-area river sampling, monitoring and laboratory testing performed by MWRA staff. Participates in planning, interpretation, and review of studies in Massachusetts Bay. Participates in review and assessment of water quality and related data for the rivers and harbor.
The work includes carrying out the execution, and reporting of water quality monitoring programs in Boston Harbor and rivers as required by the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit and MWRA planning needs; coordinating MWRA monitoring projects in Boston Harbor Massachusetts Bay, and the Charles, Alewife and Mystic Rivers, together with the Department of Laboratory Services, as required; collaborating with other MWRA departments to integrate environmental findings and operational issues, in order to optimize the environmental benefits of MWRA planning and operations; interacting with federal, state and local government and regulatory agencies such as United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to ensure that MWRA monitoring is scientifically sound, cost-effective and relevant to MWRA projects.
The position requires knowledge of environmental/marine science principles and practices as normally attained through a Master's degree in microbiology, marine ecology oceanography or related field; andv demonstrated knowledge of environmental science/marine science as acquired through four (4) to six (6) years of experience; or any equivalent combination of education or experience.
