Project (Order Fulfillment) Manager – Greater New York City area

Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position is responsible for being the face of the business, providing excellent customer service from receipt of the purchase order until payment of the invoice, and helping to create a positive customer experience.
The client is an industry leader, you will have direct oversight over all equipment-build projects (usually between eight and fifteen in the process) for this $20MM annual revenue client. This team is often doing build-to-order projects in addition to standard and repeat business projects. The best candidates will have these characteristics:
- Over ten years working in the manufacturing industry with a minimum of five years in a project manager role. This client business is described as a low-volume, short timeline (typically less than one year), and high-mix (mechanical, controls, software challenges) manufacturer.
- Experience managing customer expectations and ensuring customer satisfaction based on trust and respect throughout the project.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Have a keen eye for detail and be passionate about Quality and continuous improvement
- A high level of positive energy, leadership, drive to meet deadlines, and an active lifestyle.
- Experience managing direct reports or mentoring interns
- Six-Sigma and PMP certification
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree in a technical field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
The client (located in Hawthorne, NY) develops inspection technologies that perform quality control inspection of packaging with high precision and reliability, supporting the food, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries. They are a growing design and intellectual property house with a culture of creating paradigm-shifting solutions. The team is responsible for designing, manufacturing, and supporting products that are the world's most sophisticated non-destructive container closure system inspection technologies.
The position's responsibilities are:
- Work with project and project delivery teams to meet project deadlines.
- Customer communications (via ZOOM/Microsoft Teams/phone with email and text message back-up) at transfer from the Sales Team. Develop a weekly customer communications plan.
- Actively evaluating the project to anticipate, identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks and issues, and elevate risks and issues when needed.
- Understand and establish a clear scope of work for the project.
- Cultivating trust and managing expectations with all project stakeholders (Sales, Engineering, Service, and Operations)
- Identify the need for additional resources and adjustments needed to meet client expectations.
- Focus on improving project timelines without sacrificing quality.
- Reviewing products, processes, and systems on an ongoing basis to determine where improvements can be made.
- Provide input on developing standards and procedures related to project matters.
- Manage the projects and deliverables; align the Team.
- Present progress reports to upper management in regular production review meetings.
- Research strategies to further improve the customer experience.
- Direct and mentor direct reports and interns
- Implement customer satisfaction strategies to improve the quality of solutions.
