Project Manager - Akima, LLC

Artic Peak relentless pursues the very highest standards of D/B/B, D/B construction, safety, project management and business operations.  Artic Peak (An AKIMA Company) is seeking Construction Project Manager across the southeastern region of the US to join our team to provide leadership and management over our current and future construction/renovation contracts.  The PM manages a team of professionals that comprise the Project Management Office, including a Safety Manager, Scheduler, Estimator, Project Specialist, and Site Superintendent. 

Our goal for every project is simple: deliver the highest quality, lowest cost and longest lasting value for each of our customers. We are looking for individuals experienced in Construction Management specific to Federal construction projects. This is a hybrid remote position working from your home office, or out of our Herdon, Virginia office when not on the project site.   

• The PM is responsible for ensuring multiple, concurrent, multi-discipline construction job orders are executed within customer project deadlines and budgets.
• The projects are executed in a Firm Fixed Price environment; consist of major and minor renovation projects; and are dynamic in nature.
• The PM manages a team of professionals that comprise the Project Management team, including a Safety Manager, Scheduler, Estimator, Project Specialist, Procurement Manager and Site Superintendent. 
• The PM is responsible for successful execution of all phases of work from project identification and capture, to estimating and scheduling, to safely executing construction activities, through attending all final job walks and providing marked up and as-built drawings at the end of each project. 
• Work involves managing multiple projects, cost management and timely execution of work in accordance with job order budgets and agreed upon delivery schedules. 
• Directly involved in identifying sub-contracted trades to support the delivery of our services, identifying and delineating scope of work for subcontract purchase orders and delivery.
• The PM ensures new work is appropriately scoped, estimated, and a resource loaded schedule prepared (either MS Project or Primavera) for customer review and approval. 
• Enforce the adherence to the project schedule throughout the phases construction, maintaining collaboration with the Designer of Record (DOR) and trades to ensure clarity of scope. Tracking, documenting and reporting all changes as they occur. 
• Participates in the Post Award Kick-Off, Partnering, Pre-construction, Design Development, and Coordination meetings, as directed, during the conceptual and preconstruction phase of a project.
• Works with construction superintendent and design teams to successfully submit, track, maintain and execute project submittals, RFI’s and change order documentation.
• The PM ensures the management team provides and maintains both the short-term (three week look ahead provided weekly), the long-term (task duration) schedules and the overall Integrated Resource Loaded Master Schedule. The PM shall be well versed in the use and application of Microsoft Project.
• Safety is paramount, and the PM is responsible for safe execution of the work at multiple locations. 
• Quality delivery determines follow on work. Although the Site Superintendent, General Foreman, and Foremen are responsible for quality control, the PM is responsible for quality assurance. 
• The PM is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships and evolving the team’s credibility to attract and capture new work.

• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Specialty inspection training and licenses/certs highly desired. 
• Minimum 8 years of experience managing construction projects, 5 years of which must be Federal construction projects and/or job order contracts.
• Thorough working knowledge of Federal contracts and safety standards is essential.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Able to communicate clearly and concisely via email and keep up with steady email exchange with the clients daily.
• Must be able to keep track of status of between 5-10 active projects.
• Must be able to read, speak, understand and write English.
• Strong working understanding of MEP construction, and commercial facility utility services.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preferred BA / BS degree in Construction / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a PMP certification with equivalent work experience may be considered if approved by Client.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

• Working knowledge of the Federal and State codes, regulations, and standards relevant to construction (including, but not limited to, Federal OSHA and EPA regulations, NFPA Standards, ANSI Standards, and local building codes) and be able to implement these in the field.
• Working experience in utilizing government systems such as RMS, Google Drive and Kahua.
• Level 1EM 385-1-1, CRP, First Aid, OSHA 30 hour certifications.
• Have experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance.
