Our client is searching for an Industrial Project Manager to Join their growing team. The client is a leader in providing global on-site solutions that partners with the world’s leading energy, power, and industrial companies to solve critical surface engineering challenges, enhance coating and welding techniques, and evaluate material performance. The client helps customers solve metal wastage and reliability problems in mission-critical equipment and are an industry leader in the development and application of solutions to corrosion and erosion problems in challenging operating environments. This position requires extensive travel required (a total of 4 to 7 months annually), with projects typically lasting 1-3 weeks. This position will work from their home office when not traveling to manager projects. This is a great company with lots of growth!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Develop comprehensive project plans that outline the schedule of events, milestones, and deliverables.
- Design and implement site layouts that meet customer, operational, and safety requirements.
- Communicate resource needs effectively and collaborate with the Resource Scheduler to ensure resource availability.
- Oversee all travel, lodging, and logistics for personnel or provide support to Team Leaders and Project Superintendents as required.
- Proactively identify and address any resource deficiencies to ensure optimal project staffing.
- Manage equipment, materials, and consumable requests from internal resources to support project execution.
- Coordinate team schedules, including confirming arrivals and departures with Team Leaders.
- Prepare, maintain, and control project management documentation and reports for both pre- and post-job activities.
- Secure required customer approvals and signatures to ensure compliance and project continuity.
On-Site Project Management:
- Lead on-site quality management to ensure project deliverables meet the highest standards.
- Manage project scope, client communication, and scope changes, including handling commercial variation orders and technical/quality impacts.
- Support schedule management, progress tracking, and projections in collaboration with senior management.
- Review on-site engineering deliverables and initiate corrective actions as necessary.
Project Execution and Control:
- Oversee the execution of the project within the defined scope of the contract, managing critical path schedules.
- Monitor equipment specifications, materials, and consumables to ensure all are available and meet project requirements.
- Provide commercial billing support, including Time & Material approvals.
- Manage and direct on-site teams, ranging from 5 to 60 personnel, ensuring effective and efficient project execution.
- Approve man-hours on weekly timesheets and assist Team Leaders in their completion.
- Enforce strict adherence to the company’s health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Control project costs to ensure alignment with the approved scope of work.
- Facilitate communication with on-site clients and coordinate final inspections with customers and external inspectors.
Equipment and Process Support:
- Possess a strong understanding of the company’s products and services, particularly their applications in mitigating metal wastage in customer equipment and processes.
- Conduct quality inspections of surface applications and analyze data to provide actionable recommendations to clients.
- Provide guidance on equipment operations, repair, and maintenance as needed to the on-site teams.
- Lead or support technical projects, including new product development and commissioning.
- Collaborate on technical internal and external projects to drive innovation and improvement.
Business Development and Client Relations:
- Represent the company during client equipment inspections, identifying and scoping additional project opportunities.
- Support sales personnel during site visits to explore new business avenues.
- Evaluate operational opportunities for further project and service expansion.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in complex industrial environments.
- Strong hands-on management capabilities with experience in leading diverse teams.
- Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing stakeholders across different functions and levels.
- High degree of initiative, self-sufficiency, and adaptability in dynamic environments.
- Strong situational leadership skills with the ability to shift between directive and supportive approaches as needed.
- Advanced proficiency in project management software, including MS Word, Excel, and specialized project management tools.
- Team-oriented with a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
- Expertise in cost management and optimization.
- Ability to thrive in challenging industrial environments.
Effort/Working Conditions:
- Work performed in various client facilities, such as refineries, paper mills, and power plants, both domestically and internationally.
- Extensive travel required (4 to 7 months annually), with projects typically lasting 1-3 weeks.
Education and Experience:
- Experience in technology-based field services operations, especially within Petrochemical and Power industries, is preferred.
- 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in on-site project management.
- Proven track record of managing small to medium-sized projects with hands-on leadership of craftsmen.
- 2+ years of turnaround experience in the chemical or petroleum industries preferred.
