Position: Project Manager – Mechanical Engineering / Facilities
Location: Central NJ
Position Summary:
The Spear Group has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Facilities / Mechanical Project Manager to work in the Life Sciences / Pharma space. The Project Manager position will manage multiple small capital projects (2M-8M) for a pharma company client to ensure the projects are delivered on time, on budget and with the proper safety and quality attributes to successfully meet client / owner expectations and standards. The Project Manager will be responsible for all phases of project delivery from inception to close-out. The successful candidate will be client facing with proven communication and organizational skills. Project involves corporate space utilities, office space utilities, and non-GMP lab space utilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manager and drive delivery of a wide range of projects
- Conduct meetings, chairing and recording all minutes
- Actively engage in conflict resolution during the scoping, design, engineering, construction, commissioning and close out phases of assigned projects.
- Attend and monitor meetings and escalate any issues that may arise
- Implement project procedures and champion adherence to appropriate policies and procedures
- Establish and administer change management process
- Implementation of all key project processes and tools to support the project delivery and monitor progress, update and reporting, making recommendations to the client team and implement corrective actions
- Review and assess proposed variations/scope changes and identify the impact of cost and schedule to the project
- Prepare close -out and turn-over of systems and documentation for project completion
- Coordinate with the client team, consultant team and the contractor on all snagging activities, including the schedule and stakeholder engagement
- Responsible for developing funding package complete with scope, justification, cost and schedule. Manage the project through the Stage Gate Review process for funding appropriations
Required Experience and Education:
- bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- 8+ Years of experience working in a PM role, preferable for Life Sciences / Pharma facility projects but not required. – HVAC, boilers, utilities, equipment, etc…
- Project Management (PMP) experience
- Strong team player
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent computer skills
- The ideal candidate will be results driven, self-motivated and resourceful with excellent client relationship skills
