Job Summary
The role of the Project Manager is to support client initiatives in creating prototype and production parts by aligning project requirements with company profitability. This position will have proficient knowledge of prototyping processes in order to understand client expectations and coordinate work within several departments. The ability to develop strong relationships, communicate effectively, and keep work organized will be crucial for success. This position will operate in a fast paced, demanding, yet rewarding environment.
Essential Functions
- Serve as clients’ main point of contact for prototyping and production needs via email, phone, video conference and/or in person
- Research, question, and understand customer needs to determine project achievability
- Recommend best combination of materials and processes based on project, budget, and timeframe requirements
- Prepare quotes by studying 2D prints, CAD files, and other documentation; consult with technical personnel to confirm quote specifications as needed
- Be proficient in all locations capabilities to provide clients with the best possible solutions.
- Utilize effective pricing strategies to meet company revenue and profitability goals
- Manage client timeframes in conjunction with the production schedules
- Monitor manufacturing progress, identify the need for issue escalation, recommend alternative solutions
- Verify completed projects against predetermined quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction
- Maintain internal systems and project documentation in an organized, electronic manner
- Evaluate third party vendors and coordinate outsourcing needs
- Maintain strong business relationships with key decision makers and influencers within assigned accounts; use networking skills to grow contact portfolio within assigned accounts
- Arrange client visits on or off site as needed to present company services and capabilities and secure business opportunities.
- Facilitate customer tours as needed
- Initiate, support and implement continuous improvement activities
- Remain highly informed of industry trends, market activities, and industry competitors to gain experience and identify opportunities for company growth
- Attend trade shows and industry events as needed to develop qualified leads and maintain relationships
- Provide backup support to colleagues as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Technical Competencies
- Basic knowledge of project management discipline
- Basic knowledge of prototyping and manufacturing capabilities specific to Prototek
- Basic knowledge continuous improvement methodologies and tools
- Proficient knowledge of industry materials, applications and technologies
- Proficient knowledge of reading designs, prints, and other technical drawings/files
- Proficient relationship management skills
- Proficient negotiation and presentation skills
- Proficient knowledge of general business practices
- Proficient computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, CRM, ERP and CAD related software

Education and Experience:
- Degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering, Design, or related field required
- 1 - 4 years’ experience in traditional and additive manufacturing required
- 1 years’ experience in project management within the manufacturing industry preferred
- 1 years’ experience in customer service in related technology or manufacturing industry preferred
- 1 years' experience in sales and/or marketing preferred
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computer and handle/feel small and large parts
- Ability to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focus
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally throughout work week
- Noise conditions in production areas can be moderate to extreme, PPE required and provided
- Production areas may contain fumes or airborne particles, PPE provided upon request
Work Hours/Travel:
- 1st shift work schedule, Monday – Friday
- Remote work available upon approval and completion of training
- Local and overnight travel 10% or less
