Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Manager - Operations. We are seeking a candidate to join our team at the PlayReadVIP National Center in the Department of Pediatrics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Our group, based in Manhattan, delivers and studies parenting programs designed to improve child development outcomes in under-resourced populations (led by PI Alan Mendelsohn, MD; playreadvip.org). The candidate will be responsible for multiple research/project tasks and will work with a multidisciplinary team of pediatricians, psychologists, and others. In particular, this candidate will be responsible for management of all programmatic, research, and day-to-day operations of PlayReadVIP.
Candidates will be based in Manhattan with some hybrid availability. There may be some occasional travel required to locations within and outside of NYC.
Job Responsibilities:
PlayReadVIP Program:
- Manage grants including pre-award and post-award support related to administration in an academic and/or healthcare setting.
- Create and manage budgets for multiple existing and new projects.
- Lead onboarding and orientations for new staff.
- Support research administration logistics such as IRB.
- Oversight of grants administration, including assistance with applications and reports to funders and grants management processes.
- Oversight of contract development for new partnerships.
- Lead strategic planning along with leadership team.
- Maintain financial records and receipts.
- Coordinate and serve as a liaison with department to ensure communication for shared financial objectives.
- Coordinate with NYULMC employees, hospital employees, and collaborators.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and regulatory processes for new and existing employees and volunteers.
- Oversight of purchasing for program materials.
- Track and update reimbursements and expenditures.
- Manage submission and tracking of payments to contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Provide administrative support for the PI and project leadership.
- Provide general support related to project or research tasks such as grant preparation.
- Other administrative and operational tasks as needed.
Program Management:
- Create and maintain project timelines, manage project to-do's and deliverables.
- Schedule, organize, and lead meetings.
- Communicate with principal investigators, co-investigators, collaborators, and staff.
- Supervise and provide mentorship to research assistants, volunteers, and staff.
- Support contracting, budgeting, spending tracking, and reporting for various projects, and additional regulatory tasks such as IRB and human subject issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
MA, MPH, or MBA in public health, or related field, with sufficient relevant experience. 3+ years of leadership experience, and previous experience supervising employees, students, or volunteers. Excellent leadership skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills. Proficiency with database and statistical software (for example, Microsoft Excel, SPSS, R, STATA, REDCap, SQL), and experience in data analysis/management. Administration experience in an academic and/or academic healthcare institution preferred. Experience using budgeting/grants/purchasing systems such as PeopleSoft preferred. Ability to work well independently and collaboratively on complex tasks. Commitment to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated interest in early child development, parenting, program implementation, program adaptation, cross-cultural differences in parenting, education, and/or public health. Previous experience with program and/or research experience with diverse populations and cultures. Proficiency in Spanish or other language spoken frequently in New York City preferred, but not required. Higher degree in developmental psychology, implementation science, education, epidemiology, public health, or related field.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $67,771.14 - $88,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
