Position Overview:
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing fire protection construction projects from inception to completion. This role requires a detail-oriented and organized individual with a strong background in construction project management and a deep understanding of fire protection systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource/material allocation.
- Review construction contract documents and collaborate with engineers, architects, general contractor/owner, etc. to ensure design of fire sprinkler systems meets specification requirements.
- Compile submittals and submit to appropriate AHJ to obtain permits and licenses in a timely manner that meets construction deadlines.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure project requirements and specifications are met.
- Schedule and lead project meetings to ensure alignment and effective communication among all stakeholders.
Execution and Monitoring:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of fire protection construction projects.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, within budget with a focus around margin and profitability.
- Assist field checks on all projects during install phases to ensure proper installation is achieved.
- Monitor project progress and performance, adjusting as necessary to meet project goals.
Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship.
- Review and approve fabrication listings and material orders in depth to ensure that the correct material is being ordered and arriving on site at the proper time; monitor stock to timely handle shorts or inadequacies.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the construction process promptly and effectively.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed to minimize risk and ensure a safe working environment.
Financial Management:
- Manage project budgets, including cost estimation, tracking, reporting with an eye and focus on margin.
- Approve project expenditures and manage subcontractor and supplier invoices.
- Provide regular financial reports to senior management.
Client Relations:
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
- Provide regular project updates and communicate any changes or issues promptly.
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through proactive communication and problem-solving.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within the construction industry, preferably in fire protection.
- Strong knowledge of fire protection systems, codes, and standards.
- Proven track record of successfully managing construction projects from start to finish.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools such as: Procore, Box, Dropbox, Microsoft 365, Adobe.
- PMP or other relevant certifications are a plus.
