About the Job
L.J. Gonzer Associates is looking for individuals to join our pool of qualified candidates for potential assignment as a Project Manager/Systems Engineer to support our client's Communications-based Train Control (CBTC) projects. Multiple roles are available. The Project Manager/Systems Engineer for CBTC Projects will have the following responsibilities, plus other related duties as necessary:
- Ensure coherent planning of CBTC projects in the long-term, medium-term, and short-term (day-to-day specific project deliverables, for example).
- Build a Signal Modernization Program Plan for client's train lines and support plan implementation.
- Support project controls in developing methods for oversight and reporting on progress of projects.
- Participate in the oversight of project performance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication on project status and timely resolution of issues with the overall goal of project success.
- Prepare and conduct presentations for key personnel.
- Be involved in the overall procurement process, negotiations, and identification of third party CBTC suppliers.
- Support contract and change order negotiations and implementations.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, System Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with on-board train control and CBTC system design for major modernization programs.
- Substantial experience in progressively responsible roles in program management, project management, engineering, signaling and train control, or a related field.
- Strong project management experience with a proven track record of completing projects on time and within budget.
- Substantial experience coordinating services of technical experts, engineering entities, and operation and maintenance organizations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Substantial experience leading and managing contractors, subcontractors, or vendors.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and balance competing priorities.
- Leadership skills as a change agent and strategic/creative/innovate thinker with the ability to align business goals with solutions to drive process improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-profile, high-pressure environment.
