Summary:
This role provides the opportunity to work almost exclusively with Microsoft senior leaders, very unique role. The individual in this role, is one of maybe 25 people at Microsoft that has this visibility or opportunity. Many that you work with our CVP level or higher. This role provides a unique visibility to meet the leaders of the company.
Typical Day in the Role:
- Purpose of the Team: The team manages own all communications internally for the EVP of Microsoft security and the internal communications for the division.
- Key projects: This role will be responsible for Communicate for EVP: speeches, keynotes, slide decks, talking points, fireside chat engagements. Owning and managing the Microsoft Security SharePoint site, running our town halls, partner briefings in person/hybrid/or virtual, manage the Microsoft security presence of the EVP for any flagship events.
- Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 25% meetings, 50% preparing for EVP or security engagements or presentations, 25% programmatic: security newsletter, SharePoint site, communications
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all internal communications, executive, strategic, and programmatic.
- Leads the development and implementation of editorial strategy and calendar, along with defining and executing against an org-wide communications ROB.
- Partner with marketing and PR teams to manage internal and external EVP comms needs and opportunities, from exec videos to media engagements to industry key-notes, including briefing materials, scripts, key messaging, and presentations.
- Drive community comms strategy and engagement across the org and other key constituencies, including all-hands, town hall meetings, AMAs, Partner+ level briefings.
- Sets the strategy for the adoption and use of new technology and tools to help facilitate two-way dialogue between leaders and employees.
- Define key goals and drive creation and execution for org-wide communication channels (i.e. e-mail, SharePoint, Teams, social, newsletter, etc )
- Drive communication alignment across internal teams in partnership with local comms leaders and HR, including messaging, branding, templates.
Education/Experience:
- 10+ years of marketing communications, executive communication, public relations, journalism, or marketing experience in the technology industry or focused on technology topics.
- Must have experience building effective strategies and channels to reach a variety of internal and external audiences.
- Absolutely must have significant experience working with senior executives and crafting their communications strategy.
- Must have experience communicating across cultures and geographies.
- Demonstrated ability to create compelling stories and bring them to life through speeches, keynotes, and novel form factors.
- Experience working across large corporate environments, coordinating the corporate matrix, and leveraging cross-company functions for maximum impact.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or equivalent training preferred.
Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of experience with Executive communications experience.
- Minimum 8 years of experience with Driving an executive comms strategy across an org.
- Minimum 8 years of experience Creating executive briefing materials, scrips, and key messaging and presentations.
Requirements:
- Years of Experience Required: 10+ years of work-related experience, 8+ years of experience with senior executives
- Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would have recent experience in a director communications role for a senior leader at a tech company – either EVP or C-suite level.
