Project Scientist - Weston & Sampson

About the Job
Weston & Sampson is looking for a Project Scientist/Project Manager with 8 - 15 years of experience in wetland delineations, ecological habitat assessments, and environmental permitting. This is a hybrid position in our Rocky Hill, CT office.
What you’ll do:
- Delineating wetlands using the US Army Corps of Engineers methodology.
- Environmental permitting, preferably in CT, MA, and NH.
- Handling flexible workload, diverse project files, and working well with multiple staff members.
- Overseeing project teams with preparing permit applications for multi-disciplinary projects.
- Manage technical, budgetary and client aspects of projects.
- Assist with business development, marketing, and proposal preparation with support from senior management.
- Attend public hearings and present projects to various committees and boards.
- Establishing long-term relationships with agency, municipal and private clients.
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff.
- Participate in professional organizations through presentations and/or technical committees
What you will bring:
- 8+ years of experience in environmental engineering, consulting experience preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
- Certified Soil Scientist is a plus.
- Experience with conducting ecological habitat assessments is a plus.
- Experience with energy, transportation, and environmental project permitting is preferred.
- Experience with public speaking at public hearings, workshops, and seminars.
- Ability to handle flexible workload, diverse project files, and working well with multiple staff members.
- Valid driver’s license is required. Some travel will be required to client meetings and project sites.
- Familiarity with Connecticut and Massachusetts environmental permitting regulations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational/time management skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
