Leading in accord with the mission, vision, and values of Gallagher Asphalt Corporation, the Project Superintendent is responsible for scheduling field operations to achieve timely and profitable completion, while simultaneously meeting quality and safety benchmarks. The Project Superintendent actively provides support to the construction foremen and their field crews. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, digital and technical abilities, and the skill to effectively react to changing conditions. Occasional night work may be required. All local projects! No out-of-town travel! Seasonal or Year-Round Opportunity dependent upon candidate preference.
The primary duties of the Project Superintendent are to facilitate the smooth progress of the project from prepping for the work, scheduling all Gallagher Asphalt crews and subcontractor forces, daily management of all field activity, and thorough completion of our contracted project work through close-out.
Essential Job Functions:
- Leading multiple projects to implement and maintain a clean and safe work site.
- Leading performance to the highest efficiency to exceed project requirements, quality control standards, and productivity.
- Direct on-site supervision of multiple projects.
- Monitoring and managing subcontractor progress.
- Setting clear and attainable goals for each project, and holding each team member accountable by inspiring, mentoring, training/developing, and providing feedback through open communications and positive reinforcement.
- Assisting Project Managers/Estimators in Business Development pursuits through analyzing field specific aspects of opportunities and managing client relationships.
- Promoting and supporting good internal and external relationships throughout all divisions and departments of Gallagher Asphalt Corporation.
Necessary Experience/Skills:
- At least 5 years of experience with municipal and IDOT projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, MS Project
- IL Driver's License with no restrictions
- OSHA 30
- Basic financial literacy
- Construction math skills to estimate quantities for jobs
- Knowledge of equipment used to complete all phases of a heavy highway project
- Proficient in use of smartphone, tablet, and laptop
- Strong business and technical written correspondence skills
- Strong, clear communication skills utilizing various means
- Ability to build strong working relationships
- High attention to detail
