Summary
The Proofreader works closely with the Associate Creative Director (ACD) and Chief Creative Officer to ensure all copy is accurate; thoroughly combed for errors and inconsistencies; and in line with Direct Marketing Solutions (DMS) client brands and the overall creative strategy. The Proofreader interfaces with the Client Services team to ensure all language is accurate and in compliance with any relevant regulatory bodies and client legal departments.
Essential Functions
- Ensures all copy for DMS marketing campaigns is readable, free of errors, well formatted, in line with client brands, and in compliance with any relevant regulatory bodies or client legal departments.
- Conducts quality control for design elements, font corruption, image resolution, overlapping layers, trim/fold line issues, bleeds, printing specifications, etc.
- Checks print-ready proofs against client-approved proofs.
- Works closely with designers and production artists to ensure all copy and edits are implemented within the provided parameters.
- Verifies and crosschecks response directives like URLs, telephone numbers, and QR codes.
- Uses a working knowledge of AP or Chicago Style to eagle eye an array of content from legal disclaimers to blog posts.
- Trains with the ACD and other team members on copy editor skills as required.
Additional Responsibilities
- Completes additional assignments and special projects from the Associate Creative Director as needed.
- Demonstrates behavior consistent with DMS Values and the Code of Conduct.
- Learns and adheres to all information technology and data security policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Learns and adheres to DMS rules and established policies for workplace health and safety.
- Adheres to all other DMS policies and procedures.
- Completes all required compliance training on time and in good faith.
Qualifications
- At least two years' proofreading experience in marketing, advertising, journalism, design, healthcare, banking, or alternative lending
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or related field preferred
- General knowledge of design and printing processes and a practical understanding of marketing and branding strategies
The Fine Print:
This position typically works Monday-Friday 8 am - 5 pm Pacific Time preferred. Central and Mountain time will be considered.
