Property Accountant (Commercial Real Estate)

Utilize your accounting expertise by joining an established and reputable commercial real estate owner, developer, and investment firm. As a Property Accountant, you will be responsible for comprehensive accounting support across multiple entities, encompassing tasks such as job costing, journal entry posting, account reconciliations, and the creation of complete financial reports. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position offers regular interaction with senior leadership, allowing you to contribute both in accounting and broader business aspects.

Property Accountant Responsibilities:
- Work with a portfolio of commercial properties across the West Coast.
- Manage month-end close, journal entries, accruals, variance analysis, and GL reconciliation.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and internal reports.
- Maintain cash management and fixed asset accounting, including WIP tracking.
- Resolve tenant A/R issues with Property Management & Accounting.
- Prepare annual reconciliations and conduct budget variance analysis.
- Review and consolidate financials from third-party property managers.
- Support job cost accounting for properties under development, including invoice coding and budget tracking.
- Reconcile property bank accounts and monitor outstanding checks.
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting.
Property Accountant Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience in accounting from transaction level through completion of financial statements under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Fixed asset and property accounting experience is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or a minimum of an Associate’s degree is required, preferably in accounting, finance, or business.
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to be self-motivated and work independently.
- Proficiency in various software applications and the ability to learn and utilize custom software programs, including Yardi, Microsoft Office, MRI Software, etc.
- Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation: $75K - $80K DOE + 20% annual bonus
