A growing real estate firm is looking to hire a dedicated Property Accountant & Leasing Operations Specialist to manage both the financial and operational aspects of its property portfolio. This is a dual-focused role where the ideal candidate will apply their accounting expertise and leasing operations skills to optimize financial reporting, support lease administration, and foster tenant relations. We seek a professional who is as comfortable with numbers as they are with enhancing tenant experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Property Accounting
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, manage tenant billings, reconcile bank statements, and track rental payments, late fees, and other receivables.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to monitor financial performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Record journal entries, track expenses, and maintain accuracy in the general ledger for all managed properties.
Leasing Operations
- Lease Administration: Oversee lease set-up, renewals, and terminations, ensuring all terms are accurate, updated, and communicated effectively.
- Tenant Relations: Act as a primary contact for tenant inquiries related to lease terms, payments, and other concerns, promoting positive tenant relationships.
- Occupancy & Vacancy Tracking: Monitor occupancy rates, identify trends, and work with property management on strategies for renewals and vacancy reduction.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 2 years in property accounting; experience with leasing operations is required. Commercial real estate (CRE) experience preferred; residential property experience also considered.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks); advanced Excel skills required.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, lease administration processes, and property management best practices.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret financial data, analyze trends, and create actionable insights to support property and leasing goals.
